they just keep coming and coming

When the Tokens first formed, their lead singer was none other than Neil Sedaka. It was after Neil left the group that they recorded their first hit, ( sorry Neil ),Tonight I Fell In Love. That is still one, good song. Their next one was even a bigger hit. The Lion Sleeps Tonight. I had the pleasure of seeing the Tokens several years ago at Little Darlins in Kissimee Florida. They still sound great.

Every night I hope and pray, a dream lover will come my way! Man how I loved that song. In 1959 I was fifteen and dreamed about girls all the time, hell, that tune could've been my theme song.

Bobby Darin, or Walden Robert Cassotto as I like to call him ( that's his real name) gave us many hits. Splish Splash, Queen Of The Hop, Plain Jane, Dream Lover, Things, Mack The Knife,18 Yellow Roses, If I Were A Carpenter, Clementine and on and on.

Bobby left us on December 20,1973, during heart surgery.

Jackie Wilson won a Golden Gloves competition in Detroit when he was 16. He even thought about fighting professionally but decided to become a singer instead. Strange alternative, but the world is sure glad he did. From Reet Petite in 57 right on until his untimely death, he gave us great listening joy. To Be Loved, Lonely Teardrops,That's Why, I'll Be Satisfied, Baby Workout, All My Love, Talk That Talk, We Have Love, Night, and Alone At Last are a few.

Jackie didn't have to climb into the ring to knock us out!

The Falcons recorded a song in 1959 that I never tire of hearing. I mean it man. Sometimes I play it three or four times in a row when I get a bad case of the missing the fifties blues. Of course I'm talking about You're So Fine. Eddie Floyd was lead singer (you remember him don't you, Knock On Wood) until 1961. An unknown singer replaced him, cut I Found A Love in 1962, then went on to do pretty good on his own. His name was Wilson Pickett.
