Zorn, Strindberg and Carl Larsson are just some of the cultural giants who hail from Sweden. The work of film and theater director Ingmar Bergman and cinematographer Sven Nyqvist is world renowned. Not to mention such film stars as Greta Garbo, Ingrid Bergman, Max von Sydow, Maud Adams and Lena Olin.

Sweden has highly acclaimed symphony orchestras, theater, ballet and opera companies. The Swedish Cullberg Ballet is one of Europe's most renowned dance ensembles.

Swedish opera singers Jenny Lind, Jussi Bjorling, Birgit Nilsson, Elisabeth Soderstrom and Hakan Hagegard are also world famous.

There is a strong tradition of outdoor theater, which usually portrays local history. In the summer there are also hundreds of cultural festivals to attend.
