Part 1

Alexis Mackenzie Paine looked at the reflection of herself, as usual she was frustrated. She looked at her outfit and then her hair and makeup. She was a pretty girl standing at 5'8 with long curly dark brown hair, crystal blue eyes, and a nice figure. She would never had known that almost every girl at her high school wished she could look like Alex Paine. She wasn't a snob, but she was popular mostly because she was nice to everyone. She wanted so much out of life, but she couldn't tell you what. All she knew was there was something out there for her, and she couldn't wait to find it. She had never really been big on guys because she thought most of them were idiots, but most of her closest friends were those of the opposite sex.

She had lived in Orlando Florida all her life. Her Father was a lawyer at one of the biggest firms and her mom took care of the house as well as Alex's younger brother and sister who were 12 year old twins. Her family was pretty high in society but Alex could care less. She had this itch inside her for something, but still she couldn't figure it out. She gave a great sigh at the mirror and walked out of her room. Until she could put her finger on what she wanted she would have to settle for her normal routine.

She grabbed a bagel on her way out the door and climbed into her black Explorer. She drove thru her neighborhood with her windows, and sunroof down, and the radio on. She arrived at Cedar Dale High in less than 5 minutes and was relieved to see her friend Christy waiting for her.

"Well, it's about time you got her." Christy commented as Alex climbed out of the car,

"What are you talking about?" Alex asked having no idea what her friend meant.

"We were suppose to meet early today remember?"

"Early? For what?"

"To get the student counsel stuff straightened out." Christy said with a slight irritated sound in her voice.

"Oh yeah, sorry I totally forgot about that."

Christy rolled her eyes, "What's been with you lately? You haven't been yourself at all."

Alex just shrugged not knowing what to say. As much as she liked Christy she knew that she couldn't confide in her at all. Christy came from a totally different back ground where your life was already planned out for you and Alex knew that her friend wouldn't have the slightest idea what Alex was going thru.

"Anyway, are we still on for Friday Night?" Christy asked as they walked into the school building.

"Friday?" Alex asked not wanting to admit to her friend that she had forgotten about that as well.

"Yes, friday..you remember?", Christ rolled her eyes and continued, "the Into The Millennium concert...you know the Backstreet Boys..any of this ringing a bell?"

Alex thought a minute, "Oh yeah that, yeah we're still on. How are you getting the tickets?"

Christy sighed, "Alexis, we have already talked about this. Jeremy's dad works at the radio station that's sponsoring the concert we get free front row tickets and back stage passes."

Alex nodded and acted as if she remembered when she really had no clue, the concert sounded fun though and she thought she might even enjoy herself. She made herself come back to the real world though because Christy had started to babble about something.

"...I mean don't you think he is just so hot?"

Alex looked at the poster that Christy was pointing at in her locker, "Yeah, he's cute."

In truth Alex didn't know which one Christy was talking about but she thought they were all good looking. Alex got her books out of her locker and they started walking to first hour while Christy babbled on and on about something or another. All Alex could wonder was whether this week would be different than all the rest, little did she know that this week would change the rest of her life.
