Alex was to tired, and to depressed to fight. She didn't want to make anything worse and planned on walking right past him into the house. Nick watched her walk up and when he realized she wasn't going to stop he caught her by the arm. "Alex, can we talk?"
Alex shrugged, and looked up at him.
"I'm sorry about the other day. You were right, I should have let you explain. But, Alex, when I saw that guy kiss you..I got mad, I got really mad, and I wasn't thinking about what I was saying."
Alex just looked at him, he thought she seemed..he couldn't place it. She seemed different, tired, almost older than she had looked 2 weeks ago. "Alex, are you okay?"
She looked at him for a minute, "No, I'm not. I'm finishing high school, I have tons of exams, I haven't talked to you in 2 weeks, my pitch has been suffering the past few weeks, my dog died, and I decided on what scholarship to except. I'm just doing wonderful."
Nick looked at her, and got mad at himself, "I'm sorry Alex, I'm sorry."
Alex attempted a week smile, but it didn't work. Her attempts to keep everything in now failed. She put both hands over her faces and tried to convince herself she could wait until she got inside to break down, but it didn't work.
Nick watched as Alex began to cry, slowly at first and then the tears started coming hard. Nick pulled her into his arms and held her as she cried. She cried for a few minutes and then tried to regain control. "I'm sorry."
"Don't be, it's okay."
Alex tried to smile and wiped the tearstains away. "Come on inside, Jason's been practicing Mortal Combat for weeks. He thinks he can beat you."
Nick laughed at the last statement, "Well, he can dream on!"
Nick put his arm around her shoulders and they walked into the house. Maybe this week won't be so bad after all, Alex thought.
******************3 WEEKS LATER************************
Alex was sitting on her bed, and looked around her room. She had graduated tonight, she was no longer in high school, and getting further and further from being a kid. She looked at her walls that had memories plastered all over them, and smiled. High School had been fun, it was hard, but she would miss it. A sharp ring cut into her thoughts. She looked at the clock, it was really late, who would be calling now? she thought before picking up the phone, "Hello?"
"Hey! You looked wonderful tonight."
"Nick?"
"Who else would be calling you at this time of night?"
"I dunno. You were there?"
"Sure I was, I got in a little late, but I saw the whole thing. You didn't even trip, I'm impressed."
"Oh thanks for the confidence."
"Sorry, it's my job."
"No, your job is making tons of little girls swoon remember?"
"That may be, but I am more worried about trying to get a reaction outa you"
"Ahh, but you do. You make my liver quiver!"
"Oh, thanks a lot, real self esteem booster."
Alex laughed, "So, why are you calling me at all hours of the night?"
"Well, I have a proposition for you."
"And what's that?"
"You know how I always told you, you could be an actress?"
"Yes, and remember how I always laughed at you?"
"Okay, anyway, how would you like to be in a Backstreet Boy's video?"
"Well, I dunno. I was holding out for N*SYNC!!"
"WHAT? No really, do you want to?"
"You have to be kidding."
"No, I'm not. We go thru pictures and stuff and pick out the girls..well, I picked you."
"You can't do that Nick."
"Yes I can, and I did."
