"Well, yeah, sure I did."
"Did he notice you?"
"Yeah I think so, I mean he was looking right back at me."
"Who broke eye contact first?"
"Christy."
"Christy? What are you talking about? How could Christy break eye contact with a guy that you are looking at?"
"I mean Christy started talking to him."
"oh. Did he talk to you?"
"Yeah, he said hi..and I said hi back."
"So he talked to you first. Well, well, well."

I think the bug has bitten both my friend and this “Nick” guy. The luv bug that is."
"Oh Chad you know that's a load of bull."
Chad laughed, "You're just mad cause you know I'm right."
"You may be right, but I have to go."
"You're hanging up on me?"
"No, I have to go to the store for my mom."
Oh, okay. Well, I'll talk to ya later then. I'm glad you had a good time and got to play stare down with this guy."
"Oh shut up Chad, you're just mad because I have a luv prospect and you don't."
"On the contrary, I think Christy is taking an interest in me."
Alex laughed, "You wish. I do have to go though, so I'll talk to ya later."
"k, see ya."
"bye."
She hung up the phone and rolled off the bed. She checked her appearance in the mirror grabbed her keys off of her dresser and headed down stairs. She found her mom in the kitchen "Hey mom, do you have that grocery list done yet?"
"Yes Honey, here it is." Mrs. Paine said handing a piece of paper to her eldest daughter.
"Okay, I'll be back soon." With that she headed to her explorer and drove thru the neighborhood to the nearest grocery store. Once in the store she slowly made her way down the isle picking up things that were on the list. She had stopped to get a gallon of milk when she bumped into someone, "Oh, I’m sorry." She said without looking up. She picked up the gallon of skim milk and when she glanced up was dumbstruck. If you had hit her with a feather she would have fallen over, she was looking into the same blue eyes she had looked into the night before, but this time they were much closer.
He was looking at her with the same shocked expression before muttering, "It's you!"
Alex didn't know what to say, "yeah."
Neither one of them knew what to say. They both stood there awkward and uncomfortable. Alex’s arm started to turn to jelly and she grabbed the gallon of milk with the other hand. She put it in the buggy and turned to him once more.
Not having thought of anything else to say she said, "it was nice seeing you again." With that she slowly walked off leaving Nick standing their still in shock.
Alex walked down the isle with all the cereals and beat herself up for what had just happened. " 'It was nice seeing you again' What was I thinking? That was so stupid!! Well, I guess what is done is done." With that she let the subject drop. There is no point in worrying about it she thought. he finished getting everything on the list, and checked out. She was making her way to her car with 2 large and heavy sacks when someone started to take the heavier sack. her eyes flew up to see Nick looking down at her.
"Here, let me help you with that."
"Thanks."
He helped her put the sacks in the back of the explorer and then stood there for a minute.
"This really is the weirdest thing that has ever happen to me." He said starting to rub the back of his neck in sheer nervousness
"I know, for me too."
"I know this is strange and all, but would you like to maybe go get a drink or something?"
Alex looked at him blankly, "like..?"
Nick realized what he had said, "Oh no, I mean like a coke or something."
Alex smiled, "Um, well, okay I guess."
Nick looked almost relieved, "There's a Mazzio's down the street.."
"Okay, I'll meet ya down there."
"Okay." With that she watched him walk down to his truck.
She climbed in her own car and looked around for her cell phone, "Where is that stupid thing?!?" She finally found it and dialed Chad's number.
"Chad?"
"Yeah?"
"You have to help me!! I ran into the grocery store and then he asked me if I wanted to go get a coke or something and before I knew what I was doing I said yes and now I don't know what to do!!!! CHAD HELP ME!!"
"No kidding? That really happened?
"YES, NOW WHAT DO I DO?!?" she screamed into the cell phone.
"Go get a coke with the guy."
"That's your advice? Thanks a lot!"
"well what did you want me to say? You like the guy he asked you out, you said yes. So, go and talk to him and have a great time."
"I guess that's all I can do."
"Yep. Now, go knock 'IM dead."
"Thanks." with that she hung up and started the engine, "What have I gotten myself into?" she asked the empty car......
