It was Wednesday and Alex still didn’t have an outfit for the MTV awards. She was now in the mall searching for something “perfect”. She thought something black and simple would go with whatever Nick was planning to wear. She had found a short black dress that she thought would go great with her knee high boots. She had decided to get the dress and made her way to the counter when she ran into Amy.
“Hi! That’s a fancy dress, what’s it for?”
“For a party.”
“What party?”
“My dad has several big banquets we have to go to, I usually always have a dress just in case, and I really don’t think it is any of your business.”
Amy didn’t seem to mind her last comment, “Well, I better get back to our room, Nick may try to call.”
Alex rolled her eyes, “You do that.”
Alex bought the dress and some new silver jewelry to go with it. She walked around the mall for a little bit, she bought some new jeans and even a few things for her brother and sister. Then she heard someone call her name, she turned to find Mrs. Carter and B.J. walking up behind her, “Well, good afternoon.”
“Hey B.J., Mrs. C, how are you?”
“Oh, we’re fine. Are you shopping for this weekend?”
“Yeah.”
“Have you found anything yet?” B.J. asked
“Actually I have.” Alex answered showing them the dress.
“Oh that’s cute, I’m sure Nick will like it.” B.J. said with a grin.
Alex smiled at her, “I hope so.”
“I think you could probably wear a sack and Nick wouldn’t care.” Mrs. Carter added
B.J. and Alex burst out laughing, “Well, it’s true.” Mrs. Carter said laughing.
“I should really get back.” Alex said after she had recovered from her fit of laughter.
“Oh, we didn’t mean to keep you.” Mrs. Carter apologized
“No problem.”
“Oh Alex, I’m having a party tomorrow night with several girls from school, would you like to come?” B.J. asked
“You’re having a party on a school night? I wish I could have talked my mom into that.” Alex said grinning at Mrs. Carter
“Well, we are out of school Friday, so it wasn’t that hard.” B.J. said smiling
“Well, my first class Friday isn’t until 10 so, yeah, sure, I’ll come.”
“Great!”
“Do I need to bring anything?” Alex asked
“Um, just yourself, and a sleeping bag if you have one.”
“Okay, what time.”
“Is 4 okay? I think we might go see a movie or something.”
“Okay, I’ll be there around 4.”
“Okay,
Alex said good bye to Mrs. Carter and headed back to her car, she was starving so she went by to get something to eat before heading back to her dorm

She walked into her room to find Amy on the phone giggling, “Oh, you are so funny.” She said between giggles. When she saw Alex she didn’t say anything for a minute, “Well, I better go. I’ll talk to you later, okay? Bye.”
She looked at her poster-covered wall, and then back at Alex, “Did you get the dress?”
“Yeah, Who was on the phone?”
“Oh, that was Nick, he was calling to ask you a question.”
Alex looked at Amy for a minute, “Why didn’t you let me talk to him?!?” She asked
“I forgot.”
Alex was determined to keep her cool. She walked over to the phone and picked it up, dialed his number and waited for Nick to answer. Aaron answered instead, “Oh hi Aaron, is your brother there?”
“No he just left.”
“Well, he just called me to ask me a question, do you know what he needed?”
“I think he was just asking if you were coming tomorrow night.”
“To B.J.’s party?”
“Yeah.”
“Yeah, I’m coming.”
“Okay, I’ll tell him.”
“Thanks Aaron.”
“No problem Alex, see you later.”
“Bye.”
Alex hung up and glared at Amy, “Isn’t B.J. Nick’s sister?”
“Yes.”
“She’s having a party?”
“Yes.”
“And you are going?”
“Yes.” Alex answered, wondering how she was going to survive this year without killing Amy
