Alex was throwing the last of her things into a bag when Amy waltzed into the room, “Where are you going.” Alex ignored the question and kept on packing, “Hello, where are you going?”
“Out of town, like it was any of your business.” Alex said it as pleasant as possible.
“Where are you going?” Amy asked again sounding like a broken record
“Out -of- town.” Alex answered slower
“Where out of town?”
Alex sighed, “Why do you care?”
Amy shrugged, “Just wondering that’s all.”
Alex grabbed the last of her stuff and was heading out the door when Amy asked another question, “When will you be back?”
“Sunday night.”
“Wow, where are you going for such a long time? Did somebody die or something?”
“Yeah, that’s it.” Alex said shutting the door. behind her
Amy huffed and then looked at a poster on her wall, maybe Nick and I can go out while she’s gone. Amy looked at the calendar she had all of Nick’s events marked in red. “Oh he’s at the MTV Awards! Crap!” then a thought hit him, surely Alex isn’t going, she better not be!.

Alex ran thru the airport like a mad person, she was late, and she didn’t have time to miss her plane. She was hoping it was on time as it was. She made it to the gate just in time and boarded with no problem. Nick had booked her a direct flight so she wouldn’t have to deal with changing planes. Alex slid into the leather seat in first class and sighed, she had made it. Now she just had to survive the cross-country flight.
Several hours later Alex got off the plane in sunny California. She lugged her bag over her shoulder and looked around for Nick. He should have been easy to spot over everyone else but she couldn’t find him. After several minutes a tall guy in a cap started to make his way toward her. She smiled as she caught sight of a few stray blond hairs pecking out from under the cap. Nick smiled as he drew closer, “Hey.”
“Hi.”
“Have a good flight?”
“Yeah, it was fine.”
“I’m glad you are finally here. You want me to take your bag?”
“Oh, yeah, thanks.”
They walked down the terminal without saying much. They made their way thru a sea of people. They got Alex’s luggage and then headed to the parking garage. “I hope I can remember where I parked.”
Alex laughed, “That would be nice. What did you drive?”
“Oh I stole the Suburban.”
“Great, now I’m engaged to a crook, my father will love that.”
Nick grinned as he continued to look around for the car, “Honestly, I have no idea where it is. Oh wait, there it is.” The headed over to the huge vehicle and Nick tried the key, it didn’t work. “What? Now why isn’t this working?”
“I don’t know.” Alex said, she pressed her face against the glass and looked inside. She grabbed Nick’s arm, “This isn’t the Suburban.”
“Yeah it is.”
“No it’s not, there’s a car seat in the back.”
“That’s what’s usually in the back of a car Lex.”
She glared at him, “A CHILD’s car seat! Last I checked none of you were daddy’s, or has something changed?”
“What?” Nick asked looking inside. Then he jumped back like something had burned him, “uhho! Okay, then let’s find ours.” Nick turned and ran off leaving Alex standing there.
“Hey, where are you going?” She sighed and looked around. She walked over to the car next to the Suburban, which happened to be another black Suburban. She looked in the window and saw Nick’s bag and A.J.’s junk. She looked back for Nick but didn’t see him. She sighed and dropped her bag. She climbed up on the top of the car and sat down with her legs dangling off the end. She looked up and down the rows for Nick but couldn’t see him. She figured he couldn’t leave without her so she just waited, and waited and waited.
