Part 58

The movie had just started when the phone rang, “How could that be?” Alex asked looking at the clock

“Well, we can find out.” Nick said picking it up, “Hello? Yeah, hold on a sec.” He held the phone in front of Alex, “It’s for you.”

Alex looked up at him, “Who is it?”

“Leighanne.” Nick answered

Alex took the phone from him, “Hello?”

“Hi Alex, this is Leighanne.”

“Hi.”

“I was just going to call and invite you to go shopping with Kristen and I tomorrow.”

“Oh, yeah, that would be fun.” Alex lied.

“Have you bought an outfit for Thursday night yet?”

“Well, actually, I haven’t.” Even though she had, Alex knew the dress wouldn’t live up to Leighanne and Kristen’s standards. Maybe they could help her find something better.

“Oh great, neither have I. Hopefully we can find something tomorrow, I’m sure we can.”

“We should be able too.” Alex agreed.

“The guys have rehearsal early and we planned to sleep in. How about we try to leave around 11:00, is that okay with you?”

“That’s fine.”

“Okay, I’ll see you in the morning.”

“Okay, bye.”

“Bye.”

Alex handed the phone to Nick so he could hang it up, “So, are you going.”

“Yeah.”

“Great, I’m sure you will have fun.”

Alex nodded. It seemed almost as if Nick was forcing Alex to fit in with Leighanne and Kristen. She would try, she knew she could never be like them, but for Nick she would try.

**

“Ouch!” Nick hoped around the room holding his foot, “That hurt!” He whispered hoarsely.

Alex rolled over, “What are you doing?” She asked rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.

“I’m sorry, I was trying not to wake you.”

“That’s okay.” She answered groggily

“I left my credit card on the dresser.”

“Oh, you don’t have to do that. I have money.”

He smiled, “Yeah, but you’ve never shopped in LA Just take it Lex, it’s no big deal.” He sat down on the edge of the bed and moved the hair out of her face, “I hope you have fun.”

“I will.” She hated lying to him, but what else was she supposed to say?

“Okay, I gotta go. I’ll see you later.” He kissed her and then left.

Alex looked over at the clock, it was 6:45. She didn’t want to go to sleep and thought she would start on the task of finding an outfit for the day. She knew her normal outfit would not match up to Leighanne or Kristen’s. She took a quick shower, and when she got out realized she hadn’t brought her make-up bag into the bathroom. She was in the process of pulling it out of her suitcase when the door opened. Nick walked in and then stopped when he saw her.

Nick opened the door quietly, thinking Alex had probably gone back to sleep he didn’t want to wake her. He stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Alex standing in front of him. She had a towel wrapped around her that showed her figure very nicely, her hair was wet and it was dripping down her back. She stopped what she was doing and looked up at him. Nick tried to say something, his mouth was moving but nothing was coming out. “Umm…I forgot…something…” He finally stammered. He walked over to his bag and dug something out of it. He turned and his mouth started moving as if he was trying to say something but nothing came out. He kissed her on the cheek, “Uhh…yeah, bye.” Then he turned and walked out rather fast forgetting to shut the door. Alex just started at the open door, then Nick’s head appeared again, “Oh yeah, sorry.” He said shutting it

Alex continued to look at the door, ‘That boy is nuts.’ She thought as she pulled her bag out and walked back into the bathroom. “What in the world was he doing?” She asked herself. She thought maybe something was wrong, she looked into the mirror. Nothing was unusual. She shrugged it off and went about getting ready. She put her PJs back on and did her hair and make-up, then she went to find an outfit. The weather was nice and she knew Leighanne and Kristen would probably have a cute sundress or skirt on. Alex hated dresses, but she knew that was probably the best choice. She went thru her suitcase to see what she brought, she had crammed so much stuff in there she wasn’t sure. She found a short skirt, the dress she had bought for the awards, and then a long floral sundress. She looked at the sundress for a minute before deciding on that. She had a pair of cute little sandals that would go great with it. She got dressed and then went in search of her nit bag. At last she looked in the mirror, she liked the whole “beach” look as she called it. She was pulling her hair up in a clippy when the phone rang.

“Hello?”

“Hi Alex, its Leighanne, you about ready?”

“Yes.”

“Okay, we’ll meet you outside.”

“Okay.” With that she hung up the phone and sighed. With one last glance in the mirror she grabbed her bag dropped her cell phone in it and walked out into the hall.
