"...you want the last piece?" Nick asked eyeing the pizza and then looking at Alex.
"No, you can have it. I haven't wanted the last 3 you've offered me, why would I want that one?"
"I dunno, just thought I’d ask." he answered over a mouthful
"Close your mouth when you’re eating." Alex said in her most motherly voice.
"Okay MOM." Nick answered opening his mouth and showing her the pizza. "So, what do you want to do?"
"I dunno."
"Do you want to go see a movie or something?"
"I don't think their are any moves out worth seeing."
"Yeah, your right. You wanna go rent one?"
"Yeah, I guess. Where are we gonna watch it?"
"Brian wouldn't mind if we just went back to his place."
"Or we could even go back to my house."
"Let's go to Brian's. He wants to meet you anyway."
"Now, which one is he? Is he the one with the tattoo’s and glasses?"
Nick laughed, "No, you're probably thinking of A.J. Brian's shorter, about your height and has like brown hair."
"Oh yeah, I think I know the one you're talking about. Are you ready to go, or are you gonna order another pizza?"
"Let's go."
Nick paid and then they decided that they would head to the Blockbuster down the street. On entering the store Alex went straight to the new releases and began looking around. Nick was hoping she would pick out anything to mush, but decided he would go along with whatever she wanted to get.
"Have you seen 'I still know what you did last summer'?"
"Um, I can't remember. You want to get it?"
"If you want to see it."
"I don't care."
"Okay, we can both not care. Either you say yes or no."
Nick agreed and they were out of there in less that 10 minutes
On getting back in the car Nick said, "Well that was fast. It took my ex-girlfriend 45 minutes to choose between 2 movies. you seem to know that guys don't like all that mushy crap."
Alex really didn't respond.
"I just thought of something. You don't have a boyfriend do you?" Nick asked looking almost panicked
"No, I don't."
"oh, that's good. When did you break up?"
"When did who break up?"
"You and your ex-boyfriend."
"I don't have an ex."
"Oh come on you have to have an ex."
"No, I don't. Well, if you count Billy Madison in 7th grade."
"You mean you haven't gone out with anybody in High School?"
"yeah, I've gone on some dates with different guys, but I didn't have a steady boyfriend. I'm friends with all the guys in my class. they see me as more like a sister than anything else."
Nick didn't know what to say. How could a pretty girl like her not have had a boyfriend? he thought to himself.
"Besides I never settle for second best in anything. to tell you the truth I don't know of any guy I would want to go out with."
Nick still said nothing. Even though he never went to high school and was gone a lot he had had many girlfriends, but most, he thought looking back now were probably interested in him because of his money, or the Fame. Alex can't be interested in this, she didn't even know who I was! Nick sat there and thought, she is the first girl I've been around that liked me for me and not 'the' Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys.
"Is something wrong?" Alex asked after the several minutes of silence.
"No, I was just thinking. You're the first girl that I’ve ever liked this much, and the first one I've ever asked out after knowing for only 2 days."
"Well, there’s a first time for everything."
They had arrived at Brian's house, Nick went around and opened Alex's door for her. They walked up the driveway and Nick got his key out. It wasn't the biggest house Alex had ever seen, but it was certainly not the smallest. On entering the room Alex knew one thing, Brian had nice taste. Nick yelled for.
"Come on, I want you to meet Brian." Nick said He looked around the bottom floor and found Brian in the den watching a basketball game.
"Hey B, I want you to meet someone. this is Alex, Alex this is Brian."
Brian got up off the couch, "Hello, Alex nice to meet you."
She smiled, "it's nice to meet you too."
"We got a movie, you mind if we go upstairs and watch it?"
"No, not at all. Make yourselves at home, or since you already do that Nick, Alex make yourself at home."
She smiled at him and followed Nick out the door.
"First stop, the kitchen to get some food." Nick said leading the way. nick found the microwave popcorn and put a bag in. "You would know, he has no junk food. Now I remember why I don't like staying with him."
"oh that reminds me, is your truck unlocked?"
"No, but here are the keys." Alex went out to the truck and grabbed her bag. She ran back into the house. "I always have a stash with me just in case of emergencies." She said on entering the kitchen. She dug thru her bag, "AHAH! I found them." She pulled out a bag of M&M's, a package of Twinkies, and a package of Swiss cake rolls.
"Good grief what all do you have in there? You could live out of that thing." Nick said looking over her shoulder into the backpack.
"I know, that's the whole idea. I always take it with me everywhere. The only thing I don't have is a TV."
nick then saw the Swiss cake rolls, "Oh, can I have those? They’re my favorite."
"yeah, I don't like them, I don't even remember putting them in here anyway."
Nick grabbed the popcorn and the candy, Alex grabbed to coke's out of the refrigerator, and they headed upstairs. Nick lead Alex into a big room with a big TV at one end, a stereo system, pool table, pinball machine, and a huge leather couch. Nick put the movie in the VCR and sat down on the couch with the remote.
"You know, I don't think I'll be able to get off this thing." Alex said as she sunk into the couch next to him.
"Well, we might have to send for help." Nick laughed
they started the movie Nick put his arm around Alex and hoped she wouldn't mind. She didn't at all, she just made herself comfortable and hoped the night would never last.

Alex woke up with a start, it took her a minute to realize where she was, and then she realized that she was leaning on someone would had their arm around her. She glanced around and looked at the clock it read 12:30, she tried to get up without waking Nick up, but to no avail.
"What’s wrong?" Nick asked trying himself to figure out where he was and who he was with.
"It's after midnight, I have to get home."
"Oh, I must have fallen asleep after you did."
"You should have woken me up."
"I was going to but you looked to cute to wake up."
Nick still had his arm around her and Alex didn't want to get up but she knew she had to.
"C'mon." Nick said
"Oh no Nick that's okay. I can call Chad and he can come pick me up."
"That's okay, I can take you home."
They went down stairs quietly trying not to wake Brian up and went out the front door. In the truck on the way home Alex leaned against Nick and forced herself not to go to sleep. Nothing was aid until Nick pulled up in her driveway. "Alex, we're here." he said thinking she was asleep.
Alex sat up and looked at him, "I'm gonna wake up and this is all gonna be a dream."
"No, it's real Alex, I promise. He got out so she could just scoot out. "I had a great time today. More fun than I’ve ever had before.. Thank you."
Alex smiled, "no, thank you."
"Can I kiss you good night Alexis?"
She loved it when he used her full name and just nodded.
It wasn't a long kiss, but it was sweet. Nick left his arms around her for a minute before letting go, and said goodnight. He waited until Alex was in the house and left.
Alex went inside quietly and snuck upstairs. The day had been long and she was so exhausted that as soon as she lay down on her bed she was asleep, she didn't even remember that Nick was leaving in a few hours......
