Part 82

Bobby swung the bat and hit Colby in the back. Colby slumped to the ground, “Come on, get up!” Bobby yelled at him. When he didn’t move Bobby brought the bat down across his side. Colby groaned again, but didn’t get up.

Alex watched in horror as Bobby hit him again. Bobby’s back was to Alex, she crawled over to were the gun lay and picked it up. She slowly stood up and kept the gun pointed at Bobby. He was yelling at Colby to get up, when Colby didn’t move Bobby brought the bat up again but Alex stopped him, “STOP IT BOBBY, OR I WILL SHOOT!”

He turned slightly and grinned at her. He dropped the bat and started to come towards her, “I don’t think you could do that Alexis, not to the man you love.”

Alex waited only a minute before she braced herself and pulled the trigger. She watched as Bobby’s body jolted with the impact of the bullet. He looked at her, “You lil bitch.” He breathed as he crumbled to the floor.

Hot tears were making there way down Alex’s face. She walked over to Colby and knelt down, “Colby? Colby? Please answer me.”

He groaned, and Alex cried harder. She sat there holding him for several minutes before realizing that she needed to get help, “Come on Colby.” She said as she dragged him to set up next to the wall. He moaned and she held his face towards hers, “Colby, look at me.”

He opened his eyes and tried to focus on Alex. “Now, I’m going to go find a phone. You try to stay awake. Here’s the gun in case he’s not….” She couldn’t bring herself to say the words. She looked over to where Bobby was lying in a seeping pool of blood. He hadn’t moved but she wasn’t taking her chances, “Here’s the bat incase you need it.” She said placing it next to him. “I’ll be right back.” Colby only groaned in response.

Alex ran to find a phone and remembered the one in the locker room. She dialed 911 and waited for the operator, “Yes, I need an ambulance at the University Baseball field NOW!

“Ma’am, please calm down and tell me what happened.” The operator said.

“My friend’s been beaten with a baseball bat by a guy that was trying to kill us!” Alex screamed into the phone, “We’re by the locker rooms!” She yelled and then hung up the phone. Alex started back when she heard a gunshot.

Her blood ran cold as she ran back to the scene. She found Colby still sitting next to the wall and Bobby laying in a new pool of blood, “Colby?!” She said sliding down next to him, “Colby? Can you hear me?!”

“I got him Lex.” He breathed, “He won’t hurt you ever again.” He slumped a little and sighed.

The tears started again and Alex wrapped her arms around Colby, “I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry Colby.”
