June 22: BILLBOARD CHART UPDATE

* "Millennium" is still at #1 this week in America on the Billboard 100...
Despite an impressive return to the charts by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Backstreet Boys continue their stranglehold at the nation's retailers, scoring the best-selling album for the fourth consecutive week. The group's ``Millennium'' moved another 371,000 units to hold on to the No. 1 spot, according to SoundScan figures obtained from industry sources. ``Millennium'' has already sold 2.6 million records since its May 18 release.
* "I want it that way" is currently #6, up from #9 last week.

******MILLENNIUM AMERICAN-CHART UPDATE******

"Millennium" holds at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 this week, selling 438,000 units, according to SoundScan. In addition to having the biggest sales week in the SoundScan era, "Millennium" has now rung the most sales for an album's second and third weeks. The set has moved 2.19 million units in 21 days; that's 20,000 copies OVER the previous sales record held by Garth Brooks!

Backstreet Boys' new album "Millennium" easily holds the top spot on The Billboard 200 for the second consecutive week - selling a further 622,000 copies. The Boys' sales total this week is the third largest of the year so far, behind the album's first week...when it sold 1.13 million copies.... and Ricky Martin's double-CD set which sold 661,000 copies in it's first week of release.

"Millennium Mania" has gripped the U.S. with the release of "Millennium", the Backstreet Boys' second U.S. release and third International release. "Millennium was released in the U.S. on May 18 and entered the Billboard Top 200 album chart at #1. In it's first week of release it sold 1,134,000 copies in America; setting a new Soundscan record for first-week sales. The previous record was held by Garth Brooks for his latest album which was released last Christmas. "Millennium sold nearly 500,000 copies on it's release day alone!

The Backstreet Boys' self-titled U.S. debut album was recently awarded a Diamond Award, for sales of over 10 million in the U.S. alone!!! The Backstreet Boys have now sold more than 35 million albums worldwide!!!
"I want it that way" - the first track released from "Millennium" - is currently #17 on Billboard's "Hot 100 Singles" chart in it's sixth week. The single has reached #1 in: U.K., Italy, Spain, Holland, Canada, Austria, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Singapore, Malaysia, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Croatia, Germany and Pan Europe.
