There are many reasons for purchasing
the Kehoe Jig. Among these are the
fact that the jig is incredibly easy to
use, is priced very inexpensively
compared to many products on the
market and can be used to create an
endless array of artistic effects to your
woodworking projects. The jig allows
you to use a variety of materials such
as thin wood [as thin as 1/16"] and
various plywood's and veneer surfaced
lumbers. Although many people
purchase the Kehoe Jig for the great
look that it offers woodworking
projects, we believe that perhaps the
best reason for using a Kehoe Jig is
that the Kehoe method produces the
strongest corner joint possible. The
patented 1° taper utilized by the Kehoe
Jig insures that each dovetail will fit
perfectly resulting in a corner joint that
will never come apart.
WHY THE ONE DEGREE TAPER
Dovetails using the Kehoe method always fit!
There is a principle difference between the typical dovetail splined corner
joint and the dovetail splined joint using the Kehoe Jig. This is the 1° taper
of the Kehoe Jig. Each of the finger slots, that is slots which are used to
guide the router bit through the corner joint have the patented one degree
taper. The dovetail splines are made using the same corresponding 1° taper
so that each spline has a slight, lengthwise taper in addition to the normal
dovetail taper. When using the Kehoe method the splines are inserted into
the slots and are tapped tightly into place. The splines or "wedges", as they
are sometimes referred to, fit only one way into the corresponding slots and
form, an absolutely perfect fit every time.
