GRANDMA'S HOUSE
FOR MY SPECIAL GRANDKIDS
WHEN YOU THOUGHT I WASN'T LOOKING...
"When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you hang my first painting
on the refrigerator,
and I immediately wanted
to paint another one.
When you thought I wasn't looking
I saw you feed a stray cat,
and I learned that it was good
to be kind to animals.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you make my favorite cake for me
and I learned that the little
things can be the special things in life.
When you thought I wasn't looking
I heard you say a prayer,
and I knew there is a God
I could always talk to
and I learned to trust in God.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you make a meal and
take it to a friend who was sick,
and I learned that we all
have to help take care of each other.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you give of your time and money
to help people who had nothing and
I learned that those who have something
should give to those who don't.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I felt you kiss me good night
and I felt loved and safe.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you take care of our house
and everyone in it,
and I learned we have
to take care of what we are given.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw how you handled your responsibilities
even when you didn't feel good,
and I learned that I would have to be
responsible when I grow up.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw tears come from your eyes
and I learned that sometimes things
hurt, but it's all right to cry.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw that you cared,
and I wanted to become everything
that I could be.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I learned most of life's lessons
that I need to know to be a good and
productive person when I grow up.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
I looked at you and
wanted to say,
"Thanks for all the things I saw
when you thought I wasn't looking."
And these are all such
special things to learn
from your kids or g/kids.
And Jesus said:
Let the little children come to Me,
and do not hinder them,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven
Matthew 19:13
OUR GRAND-KIDS
Our first grand-daughter, Jamie, 22,
is now out of the Air Force and
working in Dallas, TX,
how did she grow up so fast??!!
She captured our hearts early
as she lived with us between
her 1st and 2nd yr of life.
Her best attributes are
her quick humorous wit
and her love for animals.
Hates her natural curly hair
and always straightens it.
Something I would die for!
Rocy, 16, is Jamie's brother, and
he is a very active typical teenager!
Going to be tall and thin.
Loves sports and dogs and movies.
Also can be found on his myspace site.
(Children of my oldest daughter, Anne Marie
and husband, Stone)
My younger daughter has 2 girls:
Jennifer, 16, who is a great joy in our life.
She is always smiling and
very sensitive and compassionate.
Wants to be a chemist and
someday manage her Mom's lab,
loves all animals & sports.
Will be a junior in high school
and is looking forward to being on the
school golf team again this fall
Jennifer just recently passed her driver's
test so look for her on the roads!
A pretty girl with dark blond hair
and pale blue eyes.
Sarah, 11, is our "sugar/spice girl"!
Never can tell
what she will do or say!
Gramps says Sarah takes after
her Grandma Patty with her feistiness!
In spite of that,
Sarah is "Gramps's girl" all the way.
Sarah is very petite, very pretty,
with sparkling blue eyes.
Smart as can be too-
now that is where she takes after me--LOL!
Her primary interest is dancing: tap,
ballet and jazz. Would love to be a professional
dancer or a model in Paris. Right now looking
forward to becoming a cheerleader in jr. high.
Our son, Coy, welcomed his
first daughter, Oct 13th, 2001.
Cara is the apple of his eye and ours too!
She is very cute,
with big brown eyes
and lots of curly, brown hair.
Always smiling, very sociable.
Walks, runs, explores, climbs
without fear of consequence.
She also is a jazz dancer now.
On Feb. 11, 2005, Coy and Alexis
added Alex to their family and so
he is our 8th grand-child. Alex is
a happy 3 yr.old and has a smile that
just lights up the world. I must
say too that he is very active and
quite smart to battle his sister!
And, our
adopted grand-son-
Eric, almost 17, will be a senior
in high school. He is Coy's step-son.
Eric loves art, computer games
basketball and soccer.
He's beginning to think of life
after high school and a career.
Erik Josef arrived March 14, 2003, to
parents, Hal (our youngest son) & Cristina (Hal's wife).
They live in Texas but visited us in the fall
of 2004. Finally was able to meet Christina
and spoil Erik for a week!
And now (2008), Erik is 5 and
ready for kindergarten this next fall.
They came to see us in March and Erik was all
boy and very active, but we enjoyed him so much.
So, that is a little sketch
of our 8 wonderful grand-kids--
only the grandparents can brag like this!
We enjoy them all and
they keep us young at heart!
