The Dead
Kennedys have of course had an impact on our censorship laws, but have also had an impact
on my views of punk music. They are one of the first punk bands I have discovered.
One reason I like them is because they aren't really popular where I live and never have
been. That makes is special that I know about them and no one else seems to.
The first song I ever heard by
them was of course, Holiday In Cambodia. My first impression: I laughed. I
thought it was hilarious because they were making fun of politics. Then I realized they
were partially serious... all the things they talk about in that song are true! The thing
I like the most about the Dead Kennedys is that they don't care what anyone else
thinks. They wanted people to form opinions, no matter what the opinion was, as long
as they got their point across. I think that is a great attitude to have. Although
some of their lyrics were uh... explicit, at least they were factual and incredibly real.
Plus, their music is so... so...good? Yes, but good ain't good enough to describe what
their music means to me. It's all not necessarily "punk" (most of it is
though), but the attitude is!

Oh yeah, and Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys vocalist) is one of my most favorite people ever! I could go on and on about the Dead Kennedys, but this is not a Dead Kennedys website.I tried so hard not to say a lot about them and put a million pictures of them on the internet. I went back and took a lot of pictures off , even. You can go to someone's Dead Kennedys website if you want to know more, or email me.
