-Check out the shadow on Etcetera's lower body as she sings the line, "Are you keen to be seen when you're smelling a rat?". It's the trapeze she uses later in the number which we aren't supposed to see until later. Whoops!
-When Cassandra sings, "Were you there when the pharohs commisioned the sphinx?" check out Tumblebrutus who is behind her. Looks like our friend Tumble was having a conversation with someone off camera and suddenly realized that they were filming!
-When the Cats form the pyramid, you can see the studs on Tuuger's unitard where his mane snaps into place.
-Munkustrap and Electra are totally cut out of the camera angle during this number.
-And did any cat find it funny that when the cats say "Some for the Gentlemen..." the camera focuses on Grizabella and when they say, "Some for the dames..." the camera focuses on Old Deuteronomy?
-Misto misses his cue when he comes up to Vicky and has to skip a little to stay on beat!
-One nit that every site I've visited mentions is that Jemima seems to have some difficulty putting on her mouse mask the first time and has to try it again.
-After Munku sings the second verse about Jenny, the flap on the top of her coat flops loose, is suddenly back in place, and is back out of place.
-Munku slips a little when Jenny slides under him.
-Watch for Munku to kick Jenny's (extra long) tail as he describes her in the second verse.
-After Jenny's coat is pulled off, the cockroaches appear out of nowhere, as do Demeter, Bombalurina, Jellylorum and Munkustrap when the tap dance nears an end.
-Jellylorum slips on the first turn during the dance.
-When Tugger shows up, Munku spins quickly and has a little saliva control problem, (hope he missed Jenny!).
-The Mystery has been solved! When Bomby snuggles up to Tugger, you can see a black dot just below her collar. Apparently that black spot is a press stud to keep her collar in place! Thanx--Bombakat!
-Just a little thought, but why are the BOYS so happy to see Tugger? I'll let you muddle that one over for yourself for a little while--take this as you want to!! ;o)
-When Griz enters, Tugger fluffs up his mane and mouths a kitty no-no at poor Grizzy!
-Jenny looks pretty sweaty around the neckline as she sings with Bomb and Jelly.
-Skimble cues Pouncival
-This isn't as much a nit as it is a really cute thing that you'll miss if you aren't paying attention--Bomby looks really miffed when Bustopher gives the flower to Jenny!!! (and what a *cute* face she makes!)
-Mungo and Teazer are shedding! For Mungo it happens twice--Once when he and his sister back into each other, and the close-up of Mungo shows a small clump of his hair floating merrilly down the left side of the screen, and the second from his tail as they sing, "We make our home in Victoria Grove..". For Rumple it happens when she sings, "-or Rumpleteazer" for the third time. She places her hand on her head and a piece of fur floats southward.
-If you follow the staging of this song carefully, you can see where the 'editing' occurs (aka- The cutting of the whole second verse. At, "We are incurably--" they are at the far left side of the stage and at "--given to rove!" they are suddenly transported over to the right side of the stage!
-Mungo kicks his sister in the ankle when they're on their knees.
-Poor 'Cet! Equiptment seems to love casting it's shadows on her! As Munkustrap cuddles Victoria during his solo, check out 'Cet's head... The shadow of the camera itself is cast on the top of her wig!
-As the cats await Old Deuteronomy, Munkustrap leads them forward and then leans backwards. Unfortunatly for Pouncival, (who is directly behind Munku when he backs up)he can't see the great cat. All Pounce gets is a lovely view of Munku's...eh.. hindquarters!
-In a close-up shot, Cassandra sinks to the ground and in the following wide shot she is standing again and sinks to the ground again! (Continuity anyone?)
**- It looks like Victoria has been doing a little shape-shifting. On the tire when Old D is sitting with Victoria, it looks like Jo Bingham (Etcetera) is actually playing Vic!!!! Her face looks subtly different, something which eventually changes back to the normal one of Phyllida Crowley Smith. hee hee!
-When Mungo and Rumple appear in their 'dog' costumes and do that cute little spin, Munku takes the time to pull up his left armwarmer!
-In 'The Marching Song of the Pollicle Dogs' watch Mungojerrie's, (he does this twice) lower body. Look at his position from behind Pouncival, in one scene he's positioned that way in another he's positioned the correct way, when Munkustrap gestures to Pouncival to come out! Then again watch Mungojerrie's lower body when Pouncival's stopped by Munkustrap watch in one scene his (Mungojerrie's) lower body then in the next shot he's (Mungojerrie) positioned correctly!
-Misto looses one of those footcovers at one point. You can see it laying in the middle of the floor when the two 'dog' groups separate. It is even more noticable when the 'Pugs and Pums' come out, led by Jemima and Electra. 'Lectra praces right on the missing cover and starts to slip, but manages to brace herself on Jemima!
-Look carefully and you can see the tube, (running down his back) and the hand switches, (at his sides) that control the Rumpus Cat's hair.
-At the begining of the dancing (when the cats do those circular bobbing motions and reach upwards in turn) there is a reaction shot of Old Deuteronomy motioning to either side. This shot actually comes from earlier in the action when only Jemima and Victoria are out on the floor dancing with Munku and him. You can tell this because the background lighting is suddenly a *much* lighter blue!
-During 'The Jellicle Ball'when Bombalurina and Rum Tum Tugger and other Toms/Queens are paired up watch
before right before that. Alonzo get's up twice, once when he first sees them in the corner of the screen and again when they're right beside him!
-Awww. Poor Plato must have hurt his paw! While he is dancing with Victoria (you know... where he lifts her over his head and so forth?) you can see what appears to be a bandage or tape on the middle fingers of his right hand. This is also semi-visible in "The Rum Tum Tugger" and "Bustopher Jones".
-During the mating dance, Etcetera pulls herself up on her forearms so that she can do a few acrobatic positions in the air-- quite impressive. Only, they cut to another angle and she is suddenly laying on the floor with everyone else! I suspect an edit here because several other cats have similar incidents.
-And after Cetera's magic act, she lays down for the 'nap', taking a moment first to pull up her left armwarmer, (and if you're really quick, you'll see that she actually pulls it up TOO far;) ).
-Just thought I'd mention this.. Not as much a nit as a cute moment with a question. During the 'mating dance', look behind Plato and Vicky and to the left and you'll see Jenny ON TOP OF Tugger! Granted that Jenny eventually pulls away, but Tugger seemed to be enjoying every minute of it! I had a LOT of fun inventing dialogue to fit with this little exchange! ROFLOL!
-CUTENESS ALERT!!! When the music grows in intensity and Tugger takes center stage, you can see Skimbleshanks back on the far lefthand side pipe moving his arms and head in time with the music. Munkustrap, who is in the meantime trying to look important, notices Skimble and gives him a look like "What the heck are *you* doing?"
-Is it just me, or does Jenny's wig look a lot wider in this last scene where she pulls Jemima away from Grizabella?
-After her solo, Jemima collapses. Unfortunatly for Cetera, Jemi lands right on her leg!! Ouch...
-Cassandra messes up some of the words on her close up.
-Man oh, man have I seen this nit all over on Cat webpages! But... they never mention it in this song, even though it does occur! Exotica is next to Munkustrap and starts out wearing her brown unitard (kinda like Cassandra's). Subsequent reaction shots of Old Deuteronomy show her suddenly wearing a unitard similar to Etcetera's, complete with arm and leg warmers. The switch then occurs freely whenever there is a switch from the close-up to the wide-shot.
-Gus' ghost friend seems to cast a shadow on the ground! Hmmmm..........
-Pounce must be really fast! In one shot he is on one side of Old D, the camera cuts away, and when it quickly cuts back Pounce can be found on the other side of Old D!
-Editing time again queens and toms. When Skimble scales Jellicle Mountain (aka Alonzo) he is at first only held up by Alonzo with Munku holding his paw, then we cut to a wide shot and suddenly Asparagus appears out of nowhere... (I can see it now--"Wait Skimble!! I wanna be in this shot too! Lemme in!!")
-Exotica's unitard does that now immortalized switch a whole bunch of times as Skimble sings.
-When the kittens lay down to listen to Skimble describe the railway train, watch Cassandra carefully. She has to take a moment to dislodge her tail from an... um, uncomfortable spot! ;)
-After the train collapses, Jenny is laughing hysterically... almost as if she thought the camera had quit filming?!
-During the last refrain, Bombalurina's right orange glove has slid all the way down to around her wrist so that the white of her unitard underneath shows. The next shot shows it back on her arm in the correct position. The position of her glove switches freely from here to the end of the song as it changes from the close-up to wide shot.
-This one I will admit is grungy nit-picking.. but a nit nontheless! When Demeter and Munkustrap nuzzle in the headlight, you can see Munkustrap reach for his tail as he pulls away. He moves the tail out from between his legs where it was probably rather uncomfortable!
-Demi's legwarmer does the same thing that Bomby's glove does during the last refrain-- it pops up and down merrilly for a little while as well.
-After the last "Macavity!" there is a close up of Bomb and Demi in which we can see Demi make a face that
clearly shows her thinking, "Drat! I screwed that up!". :)
-When Macavity "returns" Old Deuteronomy (aka Macavity in disguise)we can still see Macavity in the doorway as "Old D." climbs the stairs. All I can figure is that the governement has figured out a way to clone cats as well as sheep and is trying to hide it from us! (*wink, wink*).
-In this song, the voices heard and what is mouthed really don't fit together at all. What is heard is something like, "Doo-waa" and what is mouthed looks more like "Doo-wap". The end result looks rather weird!
-Watch as Misto shoots the lightning bolts from his hands... he shoots three in rapid succession, but the second one comes from his foot!
-This may not be a nit, but it's something to consider nonetheless. When Mistoffelees pulls the big red magic sheet out from the car hood, Cassandra is laying on top and he picks her out for the magic trick, she comes out in front of him waving her arms excitedly then when they cut to the wide shot, she's disappeared! Where is she? Sitting at the feet of her good buddies Demi and Bomba looking like she's extremely bored. Mistoffelees then picks her out a second time and everyone acts as if he hadn't done so 5 seconds ago. Hmmm... ;)
-When Jemima sings her part at the begining of this song, she turns her head and we can see human ears peeping out from the sides of the wig.
-When Deuteronomy is leading Grizabella towards the tire, just as they make the turn in front of the camera Deteronomy opens his mouth and gives a big smile, it looks like he's yawning!
- It could just be my imagination, but it looks like when there is a close-up of Tantomile that her neck isn't as designed as it usually is.
-Jemima's name is spelled "Jemmima" under the listing of Additional Vocals.
-Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer are credited with different voices in the end credits, but Jo Gibb and Drew Varley really *did* do their own singing! So, the question remains.... who are these folks credited with doing Drew and Jo's fine work? Hmmmm.....
