PART 3

Rumpleteazer

There was something called a loose your innocence dance. It was a slow dance where Plato, the strongest cat right under Munkustrap and Alonzo, would help one of the females loose her innocence so that when she mates, their innocence is already lost. I don't understand the point of it. Victoria went through with the dance this year. I learned that if no female wants to loose her innocence, which is often, then the moon's soft resting tunes are just used for couples dancing. Then, when we were all resting, we all suddenly woke up sensing someone there.

Grizabella! She was watching us the whole time!

We got into some very energetic dancing right then for some reason, I guess the moon just wanted us enjoy what we have. It was fun dancing, but tiring. When we sat down to rest, that old female appeared again. We rushed into the shadows. I had nothing against her, I just didn't want to be stopped by one of the males or older females.

Once we were all gone, except for Deuteronomy who was practically invisible on his tire, Grizabella attempted to dance, but it failed. She was too old and too worn. But then she sang about memory and it almost took my breath away. She couldn't dance, but this dame could sing. Then, she left and we all came out.

Deuteronomy sang about something about the moments of happiness and how we should relish it or something like that. That didn't process either.

We were quiet for a while until Jemima stood up with a sort of hypnotized look on her face. " Moonlight," she sang," Turn your face to the moonlight, let your memory lead you, open up enter in. If you find there, the meaning of what happiness is, then a new life, will begin." I think this was her mystic side talking. Then, for some reason, we all sang the same thing looking up at the moon. But afterwards, Jellylorum, she had no problem with me, my brother or Misto anymore, brought out a very old looking cat. The other cats respected him very much and I presumed he was fairly important.

I later found out it was her father Gus. She sang about him, he sang a bit about himself and started to cry at the end. I had to look away I didn't need someone to make me start crying. He left and we looked on after him. Then, moonsong called Skimble.

Deuteronomy introduced him and Skimble pretended to be sleeping on the roof of a car. We started singing and he pretended to wake up. He sang a bit about himself and we all kind of acted out his song. I had fun. I got to play and sing and dance with my friends. Everyone else had fun too. I mean, Skimble is a cat we all like, like the uncle that doesn't want to kill you. I wish I had one.

Crasshhhhh!

" Macavity!" Demeter hissed. We all stayed out there frozen in fright. Me? I just wanted to stay out and see if he was my brother. I stayed close to Misto and my brother. We were crouching low while the older ones stood up trying to protect us.

Then, he appeared.

He laughed sinisterly and then cats with masks rushed in, threw a net over Deuteronomy, and took him off while we stood there powerless as if held by a spell. I saw Mungojerrie run after Macavity calling," Sirius! Sirius it's Mungojerrie!"

I stayed in the junkyard just incase he came back. Demeter and Bombalurina, who kept tabs on their adoptive father, sang about him while moonsong gave the music. I walked out along with the other girls. We danced and sang about Macavity. I think moonsong wanted me there to tell me that my brother was no more, he was Macavity now. One look at the ginger made it official to me. He may have looked older, but he was my brother.

After we finished, the males ran out and Mungojerrie went to me. " Sirius wouldn't stop," he said gravely," I'm sorry Teazer."

" He's Sirius anymore Jer," I whispered," He's Macavity. He kidnapped Deuteronomy."

" I know," Mungojerrie hugged me," I know."

Ha ha ha ha ha!

Macavity's evil laughter was heard and I snapped my heard around, I saw him suddenly and Munkustrap hissed at him. There was something different about him.

Macavity pointed behind us and his henchmen brought in Deuteronomy. I bowed to him and tried to walk to Macavity but Mungojerrie held me back worried for my safety. I looked back and saw Demeter started to bristle up. I stared at her before I got it.

She jumped on Deuteronomy's back and he threw her off along with the costume. We screamed seeing Macavity, the Napoleon of Crime, there hissing and laughing at us. No wonder the other one made me think it was weird, a decoy!

" Sirius!" I called but my voice was drowned out by the sound of the cats. He danced around, intimidating us before rushing at Demeter. Munkustrap jumped in front of her but Macavity pushed him away and dragged Demeter out with every intention of killing her. My brother is dead, I cried mentally, My brother would never kill anyone.

Munkustrap grabbed Demeter's feet and Alonzo carried her away. Macavity began to hiss and him and Munkustrap engaged in a deadly cat fight. Macavity won and threw Munkustrap. My brother and I and several other kittens rushed to him. Mungojerrie and I didn't want anyone to be hurt on our brother's account. I sat up, satisfied that Munkustrap would live. Alonzo was just thrown by Macavity but I could see a scratch on Macavity's stomach. A large one. Alonzo had done some damage.

Mungojerrie got up and tried to stop him but Macavity struck him down. He seemed to hesitate at throwing down his own brother. But then he forgot about it as everyone took more swipes at him. He ran off to the roof of the car that gave us light.

" Sirius!" I called running to him. He hesitated again at seeing me but then brought his hands together and lightning bolts flew from him. He stunned most of the cats and put out the lights but I noticed how he spared me. He did remember I was his sister.

We found each other in the dark and I licked my brother's wound on his face. " His rough housing got worse," I grumbled.

" Remember the old days when he played with your tail or just settled to tackle someone?" Mungojerrie agreed.

Pouncival turned on a flashlight and I could see Demeter nuzzling with Munkustrap and thought it was really sweet.

" We have to find Old Deuteronomy," we all concluded.

" You ought to ask Magical Mr. Mistoffelees," someone said," The original conjuring cat. There can be no doubt about that."

Pouncival swept the flashlight beam at the source of the voice. I sighed. Tugger was going to tell them. Munkustrap and Skimble gave him a disapproving look. Tugger ignored them.

" Please, listen to me," Tugger insisted," And don't scoff, all his inventions are off his own bat. There's no such cat, in the metropolis. He holds all the patented monopolies for performing surprising illusions. And creating eccentric, confusion."

Not a bad description.

Tugger began to sing about Misto, giving away the secret we all promised to keep. Well, I understood his logic. It was an emergency.

" And we all say, oh well I never was there ever, a cat so clever as Magical Mr. Mistoffelees," Tugger sang and Misto suddenly appeared! He was his black self and his fur shone in the moonlight.

He saw the problem and waved his hands. " Presto!" he said for good measure.

" Oh well I never was there ever, a cat so clever as Magical Mr. Mistoffelees," we all sang.

Misto began to do a lightning bolts trick, waving his hands here and there and bolts of white lighting shot out. Tugger kept on singing about him and Misto gave him a dirty look. But then it was gone and he was dancing and doing magic tricks again. Moonsong gave the music and Misto started dancing again, like the night when we first met him. Then, he stopped all the tricks and dancing and pulled out a red cloth.

I wonder what that's for.

He chose Cassandra, a beautiful Siamese, and led her to the middle of the floor. She was under the cloth and Misto blew some kind of dust on her. He waved his hands and pulled off the red sheet. And out walked Deuteronomy!"

" And we all say, oh well I never was there ever, a cat so clever as Magical Mr. Mistoffelees," Tugger sang holding his father's hand. He gestured to Misto and little Misto jumped into Deuteronomy's open arms.

We all sang about him some more and he made Cassandra come back. Misto then ran on top of the tire. He jumped up into the air and disappeared in a flash. He reappeared next to me and said," At least you two kept my secret."

I giggled softly and said," Well, I keep my promises unlike a certain cat I know."

" Daylight," Jemima reminded us," See the dew on a sunflower, and a rose that is fading. Roses whither away. Like the sunflower, I yearn to turn my face to the dawn. I am waiting for the day." Her voice is so sweet to listen to.

Munkustrap then announced that now, Deuteronomy was to choose a cat to go up to Heaviside to be reborn. I sat down in the pile of cats who stretched their hands out hoping to get chosen.. I didn't stretch my hand out and neither did Mungojerrie, we didn't want to go. What would our owners think? And neither of us wanted to leave each other behind.

Then she came again.

Misto sensed her first and stood up and walked away, not wanting to be held back by the males. I think he thought it was embarrassing. I walked into the shadows too. Mungojerrie beside me. Deuteronomy gestured to Grizabella and she began to sing about memory again. Slowly, as she went on, we all looked at her. She can be as ugly and despised as she wants but she had a great voice. I almost envied her for that but looking into her sad tired eyes, I knew that she hadn't experienced happiness in a long time.

She finished singing and was about to walk off. But she stopped and held out her hand behind her. Victoria stood up and walked cautiously towards the old cat. I leaned forward and I watched as no one stopped her as Victoria touched Grizabella.

It started a chain reaction of us trying to touch her except for a few. I didn't touch her and neither did my brother even though we wanted to. It was to crowded up front for us to fit. Deuteronomy touched her last and she went up the Heaviside. We sang one last song before going our separate ways. I wished all my friends good bye before me and Mungojerrie walked sadly home.

" Wait!" Misto called.

" Hey Misto," I greeted, He had the white on his tail and paws again. I guess he likes looking ordinary. " Cool trick back there," I smiled.

" I guess," Misto shrugged," But I need to ask, I heard you both saying something. Sirius or something like that."

" Misto," Mungojerrie said," Can you keep a secret?"

" I keep a lot of them, another one wouldn't hurt," Misto said.

Mungojerrie looked at me and I nodded. I left the two. I didn't want to be around when Jer told Misto about Macavity. I was on my way home when I heard a twig snap. My head snapped up. " Who's there?" I demanded tensing. I was over a year old now, I could fight if I needed to.

" Teazer," a voice replied.

" Sirius?" I called.

He stepped out. He looked older. Maybe he was. Maybe he made himself older. But he still looked like my brother. But the way he felt, his aura, that was different. " You knew it was me," he said flatly.

" Why?" I asked desperately looking into his dark green eyes hoping to see some of my brother there. I found none.

" I made myself older by two years," Sirius, no Macavity, said," I didn't want to be recognized. I found out that Draco was a popular criminal in these parts. I looked too much like him when I was younger. But when I used my power more and more, I… Teazer I felt something wake up inside of me! Having this power is so exhilarating Teazer! I can't explain it."

" You could have used it for better purposes," I said quietly looking down," Not for evil. You should have used your power like Misto does, for good."

" That's the point of view of a kitten," Macavity went on," At this age, power is so much. And killing Wrenner, that stirred me even more."

" You killed Uncle Wrenner?" I asked astonished.

" He ran like a scared mouse," Macavity said excitedly reflecting the memory," I felt so superior Teazer. The feeling of superiority is absolute Teazer. And when I finally burned him, the sense was gone. I needed that sense. I did everything I could and now, I'm on the most wanted list of cats, humans, and dogs. The Napoleon of Crime." He laughed at his title.

I was sick. " You sound like Draco," I spat and tried to walk past him. He grabbed my arm and held me in front of him. I wasn't afraid, he might kill my father or Wrenner but I knew he wouldn't kill me.

" Join me Teazer," he shook me a bit," I could make you older too. You can feel the feeling of superiority. You will never have to loose anyone again. I've seen your work and you could do so much more. Just join me."

I thought a while. I had a chance right there. The chance to be with Sirius again. but I pushed the thought away. Sirius was dead. " No," I said forcefully walking away," I will not become my father like you did."

He let me go appalled at what I had said. He really had thought I would say yes. I began to walk away but I turned around and asked," Why did you take Demeter and Bombalurina in?"

" I had them for a short time," he shrugged," A about a month. I was a Jellicle about a month before you tow were caught. Back then I was worried for you two and I wanted to check out the tribe. I liked them a bit because they reminded me of you and Jer. But when I was expelled, I gave up on them. Two days after I was expelled I killed Wrenner and my new life began."

" Why couldn't you have stayed Sirius? Why did you become Macavity?" I tried not to cry. I turned around again but he rushed over and out a hand on my shoulder.

" Teazer," he said," I've seen both of your capabilities and they would suit my purpose very well, but I am still Sirius, a little bit anyway. And if you don't want to, I won't force you."

" Sirius?" a voice demanded.

" Mungojerrie," Macavity looked around," Hello. Just having a friendly chat with Teazer."

" Why did you do it?" Mungojerrie asked.

" Superiority," Macavity let go of my shoulder and I walked to Mungojerrie.

" Well Macavity," I said," If you're done wasting your time with your offer which I refused, may we go and live in peace?"

" Are you sure Teazer?" Macavity asked.

" I'm sure," I said," I speak for both of us."

" What?" Mungojerrie asked. I shot him a look and he shut up.

" In that case, good bye Notorious Duo," Macavity bowed. He began to walk away.

" Macavity," I called.

" Yes," he turned around and looked at me.

" Why in the world did you change your name to Macavity?" I demanded. He laughed and left not answering my question. " I wish I had found Sirius, rather than lost him," I told Jer.

" Me too," Mungojerrie hugged me," I miss him."

" We both do," I said.

We walked home and went to sleep. That night, I dreamed about the moments in my life that were blessings Little Loriek batting Mungojerrie's ear, Mungojerrie playing with my tail, Sirius kneading Loriek's back and me playing with his tail. A pile of pooped out happy siblings.

My mind went on the next scene. Sirius, Mungojerrie, and I playing hide and seek contently in the park. Sirius find me and pounces on me and soon all three of us are engaged in another round of group wrestling.

I was snuggled next to Mungojerrie in the pound and Tara peers in.

Falling on Misto and all of us laughing for no reason.

Meeting my new friends

Cyra and Charity, my two newfound cousins and me and my brother in one big pile right before was say good bye.

Good times with Tara, her parents, and my brother in the forest even as Tara's time drew closer with each passing minute.

Snuggling next to my older brother in a basket. And in each scene, there was one person there each time, who had always kept his promise to be there.

I smiled and snuggled closer to Mungojerrie. " Thanks for keeping your promise Jer," I whispered my eyes starting to close.

Then right before sleep claimed me, I heard him whisper back," Thank you for keeping yours." I smiled and snuggled closer to him. He was brother, I was with him, and that's all that mattered.
