Bio
Sum 41's compositions render some new solutions for the rising pop-punk style. Counting on a mighty guitar section and on additional hardcore rock selections, the Canadian team succeeded on grubbing its own rock & roll territory. Reunited out of several outfits, Derick Whibley (guitar, vocals), Dave Baksh (guitar, vocals), Cone McCaslin (bass), and drummer Steve Jocz became the quartet responsible for the Ontario unit intrepid creations. In 1999 they signed a deal with Island Records and delivered their first EP, Half Hour of Power in 2000. The Canadians then hit the road, playing on the same stage as the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Offspring or Blink 182, constantly getting significant acclaim. Following several months defending their hardcore punk tunes on stage, they entered the studio again to record what turned out to be their first album, All Killer, No Filler. The record was produced by Jerry Finn, who previously labored with Green Day and Blink 182, along with engineer Joe McGrath. After its release, the crew gained an even larger following, not only in Canada but also in the U.S. Sum 41 then initiated a tour supporting their debut album. |
