BACK STORY: The Fiennes name first struck a Hollywood chord when Joseph's elder brother Ralph won Oscar nominations for his roles in Schindler's List (1993) and The English Patient (1996). His brother seems a little racked by the whole Hollywood adulation game, but 31-year-old Joseph calmly takes it all in his stride. His entry card came in 1996 opposite Liv Tyler in Stealing Beauty, but he really arrived in 1998 with performances in Elizabeth (opposite Cate Blanchett) and Shakespeare In Love (opposite Gwyneth Paltrow). Joseph starred with fellow Brit Packers Jude Law and Rachel Weisz in Enemy At The Gates and has finished work on Dust, which co-stars our own David Wenham and should be released next year.
