Unfolding in front of us,

Lies a world of magic,

Where the powers of imagination,

Run rampaged through the land.

Here in this world,

Power comes,

At our beck and call.

Know this world,

For this is the land of memory,

Protected by the powers of Mneme,

Here you dwell for now,

Shev, planet of memory.

The Changing of Lives: Awakening

By: Lunar Bard

11-28-99

'Light began to peek through my eyelids. The hardness of cold dirt under my back awoke me to a new and magical world. To my great amazement the spell had worked. I starred around for some time. Slowly moving, I stood. All around me were tall bluer than blue trees. They were beautiful. I could barely believe it. I was stunned.'

"Over here men, this way," commanded a man's voice.

'Moving quickly, I gathered my staff and hide. Out of nowhere came a tall, dark and handsome man. But there was something peculiar about him. I studied him closely as will as the other men. I suddenly realized that they weren't human. The man had pointy ears and a more graceful statue than humans did. I could barely believe it, he was an elf.'

"I don't see anything Ranoun. Are you sure that you felt something over here?" questioned another elf. He was gorgeous. Blond hair, blue eyes, he was like a Greek god.

"I'm sure I felt something over here Determin. It was a powerful gust of magic. Sort of felt like a teleport. But not quite," the dark hared elf, Ranoun responded.

'I held my breath, hoping they wouldn't find me. I wasn't ready to meet people. I didn't know enough about this place for that. Once they left, I planned on reading that book much more carefully. That way I had an idea of what to expect. I also had go through my stuff and find out what I had all in that pack.'

"Will nothings here now," spoke up one of the other elves. "What ever it was you felt isn't here any more."

Sighing Ranoun spoke, "it wasn't a what, but a who. The energy signature was definitely female. But you are right, let's go to the town."

'I watched them leave and made sure they were gone before they came out. Sighing, I sat by an old tree. It was tall and beautiful. I had never seen such a beautiful tree. I remember speaking out loud, "Your such a beautiful tree, I wonder what kind you are? I've never seen one like you."

"I'm a blue fin tree, my dear," spoke the tree softly.

'Startled I back away. Looking at it I questioned, "Did you just say something!?!"

"Yes, I did, young one. All trees can talk, if they wish," chuckled the tree.

'I was surprise to say the least, but eventually I got over my shock. "You wouldn't mind if I sat under your shade, would you?" I questioned.

"No not at all, that is if you tell me about yourself," answered the tree in response.

"Of course, but you must return the favor," I answered.

"Yes, yes that I will. Oh, by the way, my name is Tella," the tree said.

"Will hello Tella. My name is Remembrance Tempest. I come from another world. Where I come from, trees don't talk and elves don't exist. I lived with my mean stepmother. But today or last night or something like that, my father's friends came to visit. I was on my best behavior so as not to get in trouble. Anyway, my father's friend Lilia Prescot gave me a book. In this book she placed a note saying that the book was magic. Now where I come from you must understand that magic doesn't exist, or we just don't acknowledge it." I began.

'I would end up telling her all about my life in that faraway place that I once called home. With her help, I would come to understand this new world.'

"Now that's interesting tale. One that I will have to spread if you don't mind?" questioned Tella after I finished my tale.

"No I won't mind, but please, would you tell me more about this planet?" I asked.

"Yes dear, I will, but first, you should go through your pack and see what you have," answered Tella.

'I started to go through my pack right away. The first thing I found was a diary, my mother's diary. I started to read it, but with some prodding from Tella, I continued to look throughout the pack. I found some coin money that Tella said was the currency around Shev. I found some knives and a necklace. That would be all that my mother left me. So quickly, I put my stuff into the pack and sat back and waited for Tella to tell me about the planet Shev.

"Many of the worlds in your book, speak of a virtue or power that is associated with it and who protects it. This planet, is one of the oldest, to my knowledge. The Mneme, muse of memory, protects the planet Shev. Shev was named after the daughter of Mneme, for she created us with all of her power. When she did this, she gave her soul and energy, which killed her. So in her memory, we were named and are watched by her mother. The five that was in your book symbolized that all five elements; light, earth, air, water, and fire, are equally powerful on this planet. My guess is that you are drawn to this planet, because of its virtue of memory as your name dictates. Here, you will find that many planets will talk if you listen to them. What you should always remember, is to be polite and help all people in need. You will never know what you shall receive in return. Many kinds of people call Shev home, such as the eleven or what you call elves. There are also gnomes, fairies, nymphs, ogres, stormwings and their cousins, the rainbowwings, just to name a few. Remember always that appearances are deceiving. You will gain many friends if you remember this, as will as enemies. I encourage you to read some of the spells in that book, as will as your mother's diary. She might be from this world; you might be able to find kin. But even if she isn't she will have put sound advice and experience in this book. But from the way the Goddess Hecate spoke, I feel that your mother, Persistence is from here. You must read that diary!" expressed Tella.

After listening to this I spoke up with excitement in my voice, "Kin, my mothers kin, that would be wonderful. What you said does make sense though, so I thank you. You wouldn't mind if I stayed the night would you?" For night had sneaked up on us, while we had talked.

"Of course not, my dear," she said with a smile in her voice. 'So I laid out my blanket and went to my dream world. Waiting for tomorrow in anticipation, so that I could start to read my books and learn much, much more about this world and my new life.
