I've dreamed of worlds,
That answer to no one.
Where magic was true,
Where true love exist,
And I've found them.
This is my story,
A story of a different world,
Where magic existed,
Where love sings all day and night long.
This is my story,
Of how I came to be here.
By: Jeannette Rothenberger a.k.a Lunar Bard
"Remembrance," yelled Liena. "Where are you, you insolent girl? I thought I told you to get on with your chores!"
'Liena, my stepmother, was a cold-hearted woman who didn't care about anybody else except herself. I could barely stand her. I never understood how my father could have married her. I remember clearly what came next. She had just came out of the house, and start to yell at me some more. It would seem that I had "forgotten" to do some of my chores. "Liena, I did all of my chores. I've washed the clothes, vacuumed and dusted the house, taken out the garbage, and washed the dishes. I've finished my chores a while ago," I had announced.
Angered at my "insolence," Liena began to yell at me. "Quiet you foolish girl, I told you never to talk back to me. Do it again and I'll send you to a foster home. You're not even my flesh and blood. If you expect to live under my roof, you'll do all of your chores. You seem to have forgotten that we have company coming. But that doesn't matter, now does it?" she asked in a sly voice.
'How I feared her in that moment. I knew that all company meant my best acting abilities. If I wasn't careful I could lose everything I had. Which wasn't much at the time. But I had to be careful anyway, if it meant a chance to get away or improve my life, than Liena would do anything to disrupt my chances. I wouldn't know in till later, how close I came to losing this opportunity.'
"We have company, oh, I've been lacking in my duties. I'm so sorry Liena; I will get to prepare the tea for the guest. You won't mind if I ask you who they are, or why they wish to come here?" I asked in a respectful voice, hoping to get some information out of her. 'I wouldn't learn in till later that she had no idea how this was going to turn out. I was going to be so grateful later, so very grateful.'
"Of course, I mind. If you had been paying attention, you would know," she said cruelly. "Get yourself respectable and be in parlor in five minutes to meet my guest."
'I had left, going up stairs trying to figure out how to dress. If it should be casual or fancy, if I wasn't careful I could get into a lot of trouble for not dressing for the "occasion." When I had return to the parlor, I found some of my fathers old friends. Mr. Daniel Ivyings and Mrs. Lilia Prescot. I liked Lilia, as she insisted on me calling her. She was kind and mysterious. I would not know how kind she was in till a bit later. I would forever be grateful toward her.
"Oh, my dear, it's so good to see you," Mr. Ivyings announced. "You're a sight for sore eyes."
"Now Daniel, you don't have to be so exaggerating," my "dear, loving" stepmother put in. "She looks dreadful, Remembrance, dear, don't you remember me telling you that your fathers' old friends were coming. Your not properly dressed!" Liena said in abolishing voice, with a cruel glint in her eyes.
"Liena, she looks more than fine. You must be exaggerating our importance," Lilia interrupted gently. "My dear child, I have such a wonderful present for you. Something I know you will love."
Looking at Lilia, I smiled wistfully happy, "Oh, Lilia that was surely not necessary, but thank you!" I was more than happy with the present that Lilia had given me. An old book with pretty, silver script on it.
"Of course it wasn't necessary, but I had that book since I was a your age, now its time to hand it over to you. I know you will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed it at your age," she responded in kind.
'Liena didn't say much about the book, in her eyes it was worthless. But later, I would be given a long, hard lecture in excepting the book. It wouldn't be in till later that I found the real mean to the book.'
Sitting alone in my small room, I opened the book. Out fell a note in Lilia's hand writing.
Along time ago, when I was your age, I lived with my father. He was cruel and unjust. I found it unbearable to live with him. But what could I have done, where I come from, girls weren't worth a pinch of salt. One evening, rich old hag came to my father's inn. I took well care of her, and in return she gave me a brown book with silver script that I now give to you. In this book are ways out of this dreadful life. I know you dream of a world with adventure and magic. I know give you a chance at it. In this book you will find a spell to take you to a world of your choice. Chose carefully! In the rest of the book you will find many spells to help you along your way. You hold much potential, Remembrance. Your mother was a dear friend, and from her does your power comes. Your name holds much power. The power of memories and the winds of time, Remembrance Tempest. Use it carefully.
Love forever,
Lilia Prescot
P.S. This is real. You don't have to believe me but humor me. That's all I ask.
"Okay, just this once I'll humor her. What harm can it do?" I spoke out loud to myself. Flipping the page I came to a page of names and what "value" they held.'

'Now this is getting fun and exiting, if a little weird. I might as will continue. I'll do exactly what this book says. It might just . . . will do something, and if it doesn't, will it was fun.
I continued to read. Finally I settled on the planet Shev. I really didn't know why but it just seemed right. I started to read about the planet and what I would need for my "travel." "Traveling food, two warm blankets, a pack, a canteen, some metal money and a weapon?" I announced to the thin air. 'I started to laugh at the redigulace listings, but I was doing it for the fun. I went to the kitchen and grabbed some cheese, bread, some jerky, and the canteen of water. I than went into my fathers old gym. I grabbed the old staff that he had taught me to use. I remember him telling me that my mother use to wander and had told him how much she wanted to teach her child how to staff fight. When I remembered my mother, I ran up into the attic and opened her old trunk. Inside I found to my old amazement camping blankets and an old fashion pack. Taking it, I ran into my bedroom. I couldn't decide if I should go through mom's old pack and stuff or to finish this silly book.'
'I had moved to my window, staring at the sky wondering for a while. I finally moved back to the book and read. I could go through my mother's stuff later. After all, I owed it to Lilia to finish. I found the incantation that I was supposed to say and began'
The powers great,
I call thee forth,
To take me toward adventure.
Through the planes,
Through the times,
Through the magic old,
To the planet of Shev,
I call upon the ancient gods.
Mercury god of travel,
I call upon your infinite powers,
To move me through the planes.
Hecate, goddess of the five powers points,
I call upon your eternal powers,
Light, Earth, Air, Water, and Fire.
Mneme, muse of memory,
I call upon your power,
To guide me to you're chosen world.
I ask of thee,
I wish of thee.
