Lunar Myst
Rating: G
She opened her eyes
And looked around her
This was all familiar,
But distant
The land was white,
And mists swirled buildings and towers,
That had long since been empty
There was no life here,
Just haunting memories,
And old ghosts.
But still, this was home.
The empty streets were silent,
Erily so
The wind picked up dust,
Scattering it about
It was the only movement,
It and her
She walked through the empty streets,
Remembering what had been.
Remembering
Flashes of memory greeted her,
Reminded her
Of all that was
She dreamed
Color returned,
Everything was bright
Crumbling buildings were whole
The ghosts of old became flesh again
Warm and familiar smiles greeted her.
Her family,
Her friends,
All back the way they should be
Where they should be
With her
Through hugs and laughs, she smiled
And smiling she turned
And turning, her eyes befell something wonderful
Her prince
Arms outstretched, she ran to him
And they embraced
Safe within his arms,
Safe within his love
She closed her eyes
And opening them again,
She looked up,
To see the moon,
Shining through her window
Home
Through tears she smiled,
And sighed
Still remembering the warmth of her dream
Glancing at a picture of her,
Surrounded by all her friends
She wiped her tears away.
To herself she said,
I miss that place,
But I’ve taken my home with me.
