Our House ~ Christmas 2000
These pictures are of our home Christmas 2000. With over 5300 lights outside covering the house, trees, hedges and lawn ornaments in 1999, we went even bigger and better this past year. Christmas 2000 was a "brighter" year. We had over 6000 lights. The traffic that passed our home was amazing, car after car, people coming to the door, and the flashes of cameras. It was truly overwhelming and people had so many wonderful things to say. We had the same nightly visitors who brought their friends and families and some of the elderly people living in the seniors home even ventured out to see the display. We were happy bringing such joy to others and thank them for their kindness and appreciation our holiday display.
This year we also picked up a new hobby for this holiday season. LAWN ORNAMENTS!! We are hand making our own lawn ornaments to add to our display. We wanted to make a homey and personal touch and making our displays was the way to do it.
Pictures just don't do it justice.
We hung our handmade sleigh and reindeer on aviation wire and
had
Santa and his elves climbing on the ladder. Mrs. Claus is on the front
porch
supervising the visit.
Another shot from the roadway.
MORE PICTURES TO COME OF OUR LAWN ORNAMENTS!!
This year proved to be a labour of love that hit the hearts of many. Our town of Collingwood has a local Christmas light contest and this year we won for our town but for our whole region. Here is the newspaper article where we made THE FRONT PAGE!!!
Shortly after we received that good news we heard the mayor announce on the radio that we had also won a Community Contribution Award. Here is the Community Spirit Award we received at the Mayor's Levee Meeting.
