The Program
Womongathering of 2002 will be a celebration
of Fire, and an exploration of the South.
Each year the Sacred Fire created
by Sappho Morissette is dedicated to personal and collective healing through
the spiritual practice of quiet meditation.
Beverly Little Thunder,a Lakota
Sioux, will oversee the building and prayer use of a sweat lodge, and Witches
will convene a working Circle.

Drumming
Every culture has used sound to bridge
the worlds of the do-ing and the be-ing. Beginning Thursday night there are
many opportunities to drum at Womongathering. Whether we are drumming orlistening, the
primal rhythms open our souls. We are praying and we are the prayer.
Beverly Nadelman will be teaching those who are
beginning.

Rituals
We believe that by releasing the information held
within the body that we remember and resurrect the Goddess within and without.
So starting with the Opening on Thursday, the Friday and Saturday night
ritual and the Closing on Sunday followed by the Spiral Dance which affirms
that there is no beginning nor end to life, the emphasis at Womongathering
is always on experiencing.

For Womyn and Gyrls
Only
Womongathering is intense spiritual
quest for the obliterated knowledge of what it means to be "whole", nurtured
by a Universal Feminine Principal as embodied in the ancient Goddess of Ten
Thousand Names. Given the nature of our search, we believe that a womyn-only
environment is crucial to working at such deep levels of collective healing
and renaming.

Coming for the firsttime?
You will meet womyn who have been
on their paths for years, those that started yesterday and those in the middle.
You will fit in the same way as the rest of us do - being a teacher to some
and a student to others. Those practices that are not self-explanatory are
explained so we can celebrate together.

Worried about coming by yourself?
A shared cabin, interactive workshops
and community meals make it easy to meet others and like-minded womyn always
have plenty to talk about!

Artemis' Daughters
Artemis' Daughters offers a gyrl-centered
festival within the festival for gyrls between
the ages of 3 and 12 years old. In age appropriate
groups, the gyrls will create music, artwork,
jewelry, stories and fun under the protection
and guidance of a trained and experienced
staff. Gyrls are also welcome at any of
the other workshops or activities they wish
to attend provided that their behavior is
consistent with the activity. Gyrls 10-12 can apply
for a gyrl exchange to offset
the cost of their being at the festival.
Mindy Shuman
is the coordinator.

Grand Adventure
Womongathering, under the name of Grand Adventure,
offers a catalog of an outstanding collection of goddess images representing
over two hundred-fifty centuries of human devotion. Each statue is crafted
by the womyn who create Womongathering with loving attention to the details,
artistic finishes and harmonious balance of the originals. Ashes from the
Sacred Fire maintained continuously during Womongathering have been added
to both the Brigit and Kuan Yin statues.
