Dear Rebecca,

I don`t know how I can think of anything to write, since I said it all on the phone, but I did want to send you this material on Isaac Ellison. I`m sure that he is a cousin of our Ellison`s. His father was William R. Ellison, and William may have been a brother to our Jacob and Michael, since Michael had a son named William also. I could just beat my head against a stone wall sometime, trying to figure out which ones were brothers and cousins. If only they had kept some kind of record, and if the courthouse hadn`t burned. I really appreciate you checking on those marriages for me. John`s second marriage must have taken place somewhere else, he was married first to Toka Woody, and I found this marriage in the Newport courthouse. Then, I guess Toka died and he married Clayton`s mother. Dad said that John worked up in Virginia in a coal mine years ago, and it is possible that they married up there. Maybe, Clayton knows. Could you give them a call sometime and see what they know, and thank them for all the information they sent me? I have a nice picture of John now, and sent them another one also (five by seven). I have a picture of five of the sons and one daughter now (grandpa Ellison`s brothers and sister). His oldest sister, Sarah, never had any children, so I probably will never find a picture of her. She was married twice, first to George Varner, second to Riley Sweeten. Dad said they lived so far back in the mountains, that the hoot-owls couldn`t find them! He never saw her, but heard his dad talk about her. You know, these Ellison`s have given me more head-aches than the Coggins ever did, when I was hunting them! Maybe, it was because I knew more of the Coggin`s than I did the Ellison`s. I love all the Ellison kinfolks I have met though. They all have that streak of foolishness in them that makes them loveable, and a sense of humor. I hope to spend more time down there next year. We will both have a month`s vacation, and we want to rent a little kitchenette apartment somewhere in the mountains, and just run around all over Tennessee and North and South Carolina. I want especially to go to Meigs and Rhea Counties and search in their libraries and courthouses. I am subscribing to the Dayton Newspaper now in hopes of finding out something about the Ellison`s who lived there so many years. I will keep you informed. Also, I have sent off for a death certificate for Peter Ellison, Jr. from Meigs County. I know he was living in 1911, but they didn`t keep death dates until 1914, so if he lived that long, maybe there is a record, and on it there should be the names of his parents. I am keeping my fingers crossed until I hear from this.

Like I told you on the phone, I just don`t know whether I can get off long enough to come down in October or not, so I`ll just wait and see. Our son in Washington wants us to come up and see them before it gets so cold. He flew down for the reunion. It only takes about 5 hours in his little plane, but in a car it takes about 16 hours. We may go up there soon. I don`t know yet. My son who is in Louisville, Ky., went down to Tenn. last weekend, and spent two nights with my cousin Maggie Shelton and her family. If I had known he was going, I would have told him to stop by and say hello to you. He is such a sweet and good boy. I know you would love him. He graduated from the University in April, and works for General Electric. He is an engineer in designing and drafting. Now, he works mostly with computors. Makes a fortune! Well, I`d better close now. I`ll stay in touch, and you had better hang in there until I see you again. I love you like a sister.----Love, Ruth

P.S. Who was the John Ellison (his father) that was Noah Ellisons` dad? I found him in the 1900 census
