Sarah Jane "Sallie" Ramsey was born on 10 Dec 1850 in Cocke Co, TN. She died on 28 Jul 1921. She was buried in Cohutta, Whitfield Co, GA. Parents: John Ramsey and Mary McGaha. She was married to Dr. Joseph Milton Lon Maddron about 1869.

1.Martha Maddron,
Martha Maddron was born in 1870 in Cocke Co, TN. Parents: Joseph Milton Lon Maddron Dr. and Sarah Jane "Sallie" Ramsey. She was married to Jake Thomas.

2.AnnaLee Ervy Maddron,
AnnaLee Ervy Maddron was born on 18 Jan 1872 in Cocke Co, TN. She died on 19 Mar 1933. She's a sister of Margaret who married Lewis Sutton and of Luvenia who married Lewis Shults. Parents: Joseph Milton Lon Maddron Dr. and Sarah Jane "Sallie" Ramsey .
She was married to William Robert Shults on 20 Feb 1896 in Cocke Co, TN (by Asberry Fowler, JP). Children of William Robert and AnnaLee Ervy Maddron Shults were:

(1)Joseph McKinley Shults,
Joseph McKinley Shults was born on 1 Oct 1896 in Sevier Co, TN. He died in Nov 1971 in Tennessee. Parents: William Robert Shults and AnnaLee Ervy Maddron.
He was married to Clara Messer. Children were: R.L. Shults, Ray Shults, Mack Shults, Willis Shults, Bernice Shults.

(2)Sarah Pearl Shults,
Sarah Pearl Shults was born on 5 Sep 1900 in Sevier Co, TN. She died on 18 Mar 1965. She was buried in Fraziers Chapel Cem, Whitfield Co, GA. Parents: William Robert Shults and AnnaLee Ervy Maddron . She was married to James M. McCraw. Children were: Paul McCraw.

3.John L Maddron,
John L Maddron was born on 8 Feb 1874 in Cocke Co, TN. He died on 12 Feb 1936. Parents: Joseph Milton Lon Maddron Dr. and Sarah Jane "Sallie" Ramsey. He was married to Mary Ann Thomas on 31 Dec 1893 in Cocke Co, TN.

(1)Ollie Maddron,
Ollie Maddron was born in Apr 1896. She died on 29 Dec 1927 in Sevier Co, TN. Parents: John L Maddron and Mary Ann Thomas. She was married to Arnel Sutton .

Eva "Evie" Maddron was born in 1900. She died on 27 Jan 1927. She was buried in Roberts Cem, Sevier Co, TN. Parents: John L Maddron and Mary Ann Thomas. She was married to James Ervin Sutton. Children were: Reba Sutton, Wilford Sutton, Arnold Sutton.

4.Rutherford Maddron,
Rutherford Maddron was born in 1880 in Cocke Co, TN. Parents: Joseph Milton Lon Maddron Dr. and Sarah Jane "Sallie" Ramsey.

5.Luvenia C. "Vinie" Maddron,
Luvenia C. "Vinie" Maddron was born on 13 Nov 1881 in Cocke Co, TN. She died on 9 May 1966. She's a sister of Margaret who married Lewis Sutton and of Anna who married William Shults. She and Lewis moved with, or followed, her father to northern Georgia around 1914. Parents: Joseph Milton Lon Maddron Dr. and Sarah Jane "Sallie" Ramsey. She was married to Lewis W. Shults on 22 Mar 1903 in Sevier Co, TN.

Raymond R. Shults was born on 24 Jan 1904. He died on 31 Mar 1969. He was buried in Cohutta, Whitfield Co, GA. Parents: Lewis W. Shults and Luvenia C. "Vinie" Maddron.

Maggie Shults was born on 5 Feb 1907. She died on 31 Oct 1988. She was buried in Cohutta, Whitfield Co, GA. Parents: Lewis W. Shults and Luvenia C. "Vinie" Maddron. She was married to Earl Hammontree.

(3)Nellie L. Shults,
Nellie L. Shults was born on 31 May 1916. She died on 20 Feb 1986. She was buried in Dalton, GA. Parents: Lewis W. Shults and Luvenia C. "Vinie" Maddron. She was married to Clyde B. Sneed on 12 Feb 1933 in Whitfield Co, GA. Children were: Helen Sneed, Charles Sneed, Gordon O'Dell Sneed, Doyle Lamont Sneed.

(4)Edward Shults,
Edward Shults was born on 27 Sep 1918. He died on 28 Feb 1967. He was buried in Cohutta, Whitfield Co, GA. Parents: Lewis W. Shults and Luvenia C. "Vinie" Maddron. He was married to Eva Mae Clayton.

Effie Shults married a Dunn, lives in Cohutta, GA. Parents: Lewis W. Shults and Luvenia C. "Vinie" Maddron.

6.Margaret F. Maddron,
Margaret F. Maddron was born on 28 Jan 1884 in Cocke Co, TN. She died on 4 Nov 1965. Parents: Joseph Milton Lon Maddron Dr. and Sarah Jane "Sallie" Ramsey. She was married to Lewis Sutton on 10 Oct 1908 in Cocke Co, TN.

Nola Sutton Black (DOB 7/29/09 - DOD 1/6/00).Grandparents are Margaret Maddron Sutton & Lewis Sutton.

Nola married Taft Yarbray Black (DOB 7/10/09 - DOD 8/31/1995) on March 26, 1927 in Bradley Co. TN.

7.James Walter Maddron,
James Walter Maddron was born in 1885 in Cocke Co, TN. He died in 1961. Parents: Joseph Milton Lon Maddron Dr. and Sarah Jane "Sallie" Ramsey.
He was married to Maggie Emerson.

8.William H. Maddron. William H. Maddron was born in 1887 in Cocke Co, TN. He died in 1913. Parents: Joseph Milton Lon Maddron Dr. and Sarah Jane "Sallie" Ramsey.
He was married to Fannie Emerson.

Lawson Maddron was born in 1808 in Johnson Co, TN. He died on 29 Nov 1896. He was buried in Waters-Large Cem, Cocke Co, TN. A Union Army veteran of the Civil War, a Private in Co D, 13th Cavalry. LAWSON MADDRON AND 4 BROTHERS, FRANCIS, GEORGE, JOHN AND WILLIAM SERVED IN THE 13TH TENN CALVARY.ALL CAME FROM JOHNSON COUNTY, TENN. In the 1880 Cocke Co, TN census Lawson indicated that both his parent s were born in England! He was married to Lucy Ann "Annie" Gentry on 9 Jun 1836. Lawson Maddron , a minister arrived in the Area known as Costner and is now Cosby, Tennessee. He settled there with a land grant after the Civil War where  he served as a hosital steward with the Union Army. Original birth place was Trade Tennessee in Johnson County. He was responsible for the founding of churches in the area and his tombstone in inscribed:  Baptized 2000 people.  His grave and Anne Maddron is in Waters Cementary.  The Maddrons Bald located in the Smoky Mountain National Park is named for him. One son, Ferman, a farmer  was a well known figure in  Cocke County and wrote articles for the paper under the pen name OLD  BEESWAX. The family moved into Newport, Tenn and were leaders in civic and religious affairs.  Submitted by Dallas Maddron

IT IS INTERESTING TO NOTE THAT ALL ANCESTRY OF MADDRON CAME FROM TRADE, TENNESSEE, IN JOHNSON COUNTY, TENN, FORMERLY CARTER COUNTY. THE NAME IN SOME MANNER GOT CHANGED TO MADDRON FROM MADRON. YOU WILL FIND LAWSON BY THE NAME OF MADRON AND ALL HIS CHILDREN BECAME MADDRON. LAWSON FOUNDED THE LAUREL SPRINGS CHRISTIAN CHURCH AND SERVED AS THEY MINISTER. LAWSON ALSO REPRESENTED THE COUNTY OF JOHNSON AT THE TIME WHEN DECISIONS WERE BEING MADE AS TO WHAT SIDE THE COUNTY, ALONG WITH OTHERS, WOULD JOIN BEFORE THE CIVIL WAR.. THE MADRONS BALD IS LOCATED NEAR THE SEVIER AND COCKE COUNTY LINES, UP A TRAIL NAMED MADRONS TRAIL ON MAPS. IT IS ABOUT 2 MILES UP THERE, HENCE THE NAME OF THE MOUNTAIN.   A BALD IS A MOUNTAIN TOP GENERALLY VOID OF TREES AT ONE TIME. MADRONS (MADDRONS) CAME INTO THE AREA AROUND 1870. THE ONE NAMED JOE MILTON THAT MARRIED A RAMSEY WENT TO GA EARLY IN LIFE. HE IS OFTEN ASSOCIATED WITH A CANCER CURE AND OTHER MEDICAL HERB CURES ETC. LAWSON AND JO WERE CLOSE. IT SEEMS THAT LAWSON SOLD HIS CANCER CURE. THE WHITFIELD COUNTY IN GA, COHUTTA, AND DALTON, IS LOADED WITH MADRONS FROM THAT LINEAGE.
LAWSON HAD THE FOLLOWING CHILDREN: JOHN, MARTHA, WILLIAM, ROBERT,JAMES,JOSEPH, BLANCH AND FERMAN E. WHO MARRIED MARY DOTSUN. THE SIRE OF THE MADRONS CAN BE TRACED BACK TO ABOUT 1780 OR SO AND TO THE NAME OF JOHN AND JANE MADRON
