Thomas Vaude Wood, ex-service man who probably is remembered by many as the mess sergeant at Camp Jackson, Md., passed yesterday at the Soldier`s Home at Johnson City.
The body has been returned to the home here, 362 West Tennessee Avenue.
Mr. Wood was 42 years old. He leaves his wife, Lona: sons, Clarence, Thomas V., Jr., Roy and David C. Wood: daughters, Doris, Bobbie Jean, Pearl and Vivian Wood, and a sister, Mrs. F.D. Querly, all of Knoxville.
Services at 2 p.m. Friday at the Knoxville Baptist Tabernacle, the Rev. William F. Gregory and the Rev. R.E. Morton officiating. Burial in New Gray Cemetary. Rose`s in charge.
Pallbearers: Perrin Hutchinson, Calvin Russell, Frank Prater, Charlie Graham, Henry Bryant and Robert Wallace.

Thomas V. Wood, 42, who was a mess sergeant at Camp Jackson, Baltimore, during the World War, died at 7:20 a.m. yesterday at Veterans` Hospital, in Johnson City. He had been ill two weeks.
HIs home was at 362 West Tennessee Avenue.
Mr. Wood was born and reared in Knoxville, spending most of his life here with the exception of the time he was in the Army.
Surving are his wife, Mrs. Lona Wood: four sons, Clarence, Thomas V. Jr., Roy and David C. Wood: four daughters, Doris, Bobbie Jean, Pearl and Vivian Wood, all of Knoxville; one brother, Lester Wood, a city fireman and one sister, Mrs. Reba Quarry, Knoxville. Rose`s is in charge.

Wood-O.P. Wood, 57, died at his home, 535 Vermont Avenue, at 8 o`clock yesterday morning. The deceased was a member of Imperial Council No. 95 Jr. O.U.A.M. He is survived by his widow, two sons, Vaughn and Lester Wood, Knoxville; one daughter, Miss Reba Wood, Knoxville; three sisters, Mrs. Nola Liles, Mrs. Sarah Turner, Heiskell, Tenn, and Miss Mollie Hubbard, Blount County, also three brothers, Thomas Wood, Williamsburg, Ky., and Lee and Frank Wood, Knoxville. The funeral will be conducted at the home at 2 o`clock Monday afternoon., Interment will be in the Middlebrook Cemetary.
