As always you can pay by personal check or money order. We continue to have a flat shipping fee of only $3.00 for all domestic orders. For orders outside the United States, shipping is available by Global Priority Mail to many countries. Please enquire for a shipping estimate.
You can also pay via PayPal. To use this method, send an e-mail with the items you wish to order and your PAYPAL ADDRESS if it is not the one used to send the message. I will send a PayPal invoice. Pay it and the order will be shipped. Priority Mail tracking through PayPal is available on most orders except for very light packages that can go First Class.
Many items are also available on eBay - search for seller ID gws7311. Ebay sales include free shipping (best way) to domestic addresses - order cost may be lower there.
These items are for use by living historians and others interested in the every-day life of America during the mid-1800's. The original sources are still more reliable than the sometimes many layers of modern interpretation. Also, reading a selection of period magazines and literature are very useful for getting 'in character'. The time span is from about 1812 through the Centennial year. The intent is to provide rugged, reasonably priced copies of a variety of books and magazines in common use.
All items, except where noted, are full-size, exact copies of the originals. Original page numbering is maintained. Acid-free paper is used which looks similar to the originals. Although the copying process does lose some detail, the text is still legible and most of the ageing effects removed. The color and B&W plates are carefully corrected as close as possible to the original appearance. These are assembled as stapled pamphlets and shipped in protective plastic sleeves.
All items in this catalog are in stock. Orders are normally shipped by the next business day.
Most of the periodicals were produced from bound originals. Thus, the original covers and advertisements are not generally included. The newspaper format items (Gleason's and Sci. Am.) are unbound, folded, without covers. All others have the original mast-head and the date on the front covers. A few of the articles are listed for each issue.
Although this site contains nearly all the information given in the printed catalog, it is not as easy to read due to differences in browsers and printers. If you would like a free copy of the printed catalog, send me your request with your mailing address by phone, e-mail, or mail.
