Sarah, a native New Yorker, was born on November 24, 1990 in New York City. She has one sibling, her brother Ian, who was born in 1995, and a cat named Fred. Ian named him "MY BOY-FRED" (my boyfriend)" at the age of two! :) Ian has worked on several commercials, one being Nat. Network for Colgate.

Sarah's father (Edward James Hyland) is also involved in the business. He has worked on two film projects with Sarah, The Object of my Affection, and The Cradle Will Rock. He mainly works in theater but is also involved with Film and Television. Some of his television credits include; Law and Order(NBC), 100 Center Street, and Ed(NBC).
