No3, or Captain Burnett's Company

On the 17th September, 1803, the captain and two lieutenants received their commissions, the ensign being gazetted on 20th December, he having been raised from the ranks on that date. The company began their drilling on 1st August, the parade being as follows:-

Interesting Fact

A number of non-commissioned officers, drummers, and private men were entitled to an allowance for "necessaries". 

These "necessaries" it should be explained, covered a peculiar arrangement. At the close of the period of training, knapsacks, stocks and clasps were purchased by the regiment from the men. The rates of purchase were in no case allowed to exceed two-thirds of the original cost of the articles.
