About Trinidad

Trinidad is part of the twin island Caribbean state of Trinidad and Tobago and is bounded by the Gulf of Paria, the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Once part of the Venezuelan mainland some 11,000 years ago, its flora and fauna are more akin to that of South America and unique for a small Caribbean island. There are mangrove swamps, long-dormant mud volcanoes, the famous pitch lake, one of the largest varieties of flora and fauna found anywhere in the world and beautiful beaches - the most secluded of which are visited by the near extinct Giant Leather Back Turtles that come ashore annually to lay eggs.

Climate

Temperatures range between 22 degrees celsius (71 degrees fahrenheit) at night to 32 degrees celsius (89 degrees farenheit) during the day, though it is much cooler in the rain-forest. Humidity is between 80 - 90 per cent. The rainy season is from June to December.
