Ex-Boyzone star Keith Duffy during his stint in Coronation StreetEX-Boyzone star Keith Duffy, who is returning to Coronation Street this month, has talked for the first time about his little autistic daughter Mia. "Hers is an illness that is much misunderstood and underfunded," said the entertainer, who revealed that he will be the celebrity guest at a gala dinner in Belfast City Hall on Saturday, November 23, hosted by Lord Mayor Alex Maskey to raise funds for familes seeking expensive applied behavioural analysis treatment for their afflicted offspring. "Obviously the two charities involved are close to my heart because of my own two-and-a-half year old daughter," he said. "But I am concerned too for all the parents out there who are suffering like my wife Lisa and I. "I know that autistic children like Mia can have a better quality of life if they receive therapy treatment. "Mia was diagonised eight months ago. We have now got her name down at an applied behavioural analysis treatment school in Dublin where she will be taught on a one-to-one basis. The gala dinner will be attended by Ulster celebrities like The Hole in the Wall Gang, May McFettridge and John Daly. Meanwhile, Duffy's return to the Street as the philandering squaddy with his eye on the barmaid at the Rover's Return, will set temperatures rising again among fans of the soap. He will be seen again in a couple of weeks on an extended run into the New Year. "Acting is something I really enjoy," he confirmed today. But Duffy had nothing to say about rumours that Boyzone are soon to get together again - without Ronan |
