Johnny, Hunter, OC, and the future
Earlier in November, Kenny Williams traded Johnny Garland back home to Cali. Now awesome shortstop Orlando Cabrerra joins the silver and black attack. Torii Hunter should have followed.

But Hunter being the Sox killer he has been for the years he was with the dreaded Twinkies, took an offer that was $15 million more than what the Sox offered from the same team that now has Johnny G, the Angels.

Thanks again, you fuck! I hate him. I hate Torii Hunter. That is why I wanted him on the Sox so bad, because he’s an irritating son of a bitch. He snagged so many home runs hit by our beloved pale hosers. He has run over a catcher or two, and he played on the most hated team from where I stand. Note to Jay Marriotti. The Sox not willing to pay $90 over 5 years for Hunter is a bullshit statement. The Sox were not given the chance to counter the offer, and to pay $18 million for Hunter when he’s as old as he is would not be very smart. I didn’t even like the fact he was be given a five year deal.

So what now? Sure Scotty Linebrink now a White Sock, has a chance to pick up the bullpen after a dismal 2007 season. Where is the leadoff man? Center field? Pitching?

OK, let’s start with Garland. Do I like the fact that a SP was traded? No. Do I like the fact Garland was traded? Yes. Garland was becoming a weak link. He had two breakout seasons, but he took a nosedive in ’07. Yes the argument could be made, most of the team did. However, Vazquez, Buerhle, and Contreras towards the end, all pulled their weight as pitchers. Garland did not. So two questions need to be asked? Injured or not interested? He still has value so we got a superstar shortstop for him. We can now dump Uribe, thank God. So with JG gone, there is a hole that needs to be filled. I like what Danks brings to the table, but not Floyd. I think a fourth started needs to be found. Maybe Livan Hernandez. Maybe Carlos Silva. Somebody needs to fill the fourth spot. Maybe Gio Gonzales or Lance Broadway, who are both doing well can come up.

Aaron Rowand coming back? Sure. However, the way this off-season has been going, don’t bet on it. I guess it is a year thing, like it is with everything for the Sox. If KW is willing to give 5 years to Hunter who will be past 35 during the length of his contract, while not give it to a younger CF who will literally kill himself for the team. He brings so much energy with him and OC, it could be a huge boost. Row did really well with Philly last year, and although that may drive his price tag up, why not give a hometown discount to the Sox if KW can be flexible with number of years. Plus the Row cult here in Chicago will be satisfied.

Many question the ability of Ozzie as a manager and I believe we will see a run to the playoffs if Row can get signed, and if the Sox can land some good pitching. I am excited to see what happens during the meetings and we will talk then.
