The anachronistic domestic war on drugs has claimed another victim.  Last week an unarmed man, Derek Cruice, 26, was fatally shot in the face during a raid at his residence, conducted by the Volusia County Sheriff's Department.  Cruice shared the residence with a number of roommates, who witnessed the shooting.

The police had Cruice under investigation.  This led to the raid, which was conducted at 6:30 a.m.  As the officers made their way into the house one of the first inside, Deputy Todd Raible, determined that Cruice was acting in a threatening manner.  The deputy responded by shooting Cruice once in the face.  9 ounces of marijuana was recovered.
