Body | I watched The Montel Williams Show today and sat stunned as I listened to veterans and others talk about the continuing problems of Iraq War veterans, once they return home. The horrors of war are leaving our vets to deal with the various effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and they need help now! Numerous mental/emotional problems are tormenting our brave military personnel, and in far too many cases this torment results in suicide! Suicide rates for Iraq War vets have reached 17 per 100,000 troops! This is totally unacceptable! I truly don’t think humans were made to withstand the constant stresses and ugliness of war. Our troops are going through extended deployments and multiple rotations in a war seemingly without end. How can we expect our troops to face constant death, while seeing the ugly face of death in torn flesh and ripped body parts, without snapping? Our government sent them to Iraq to fight, and in many cases die for political reasons. That same government needs to cut the political bullshit and properly care for our walking wounded once they’ve returned! Those vets that have been fortunate enough to survive Bush’s blunder in Iraq deserve the finest medical care, and the utmost assistance in their return to civilian life. Mr.Bush, and whoever becomes the next president, listen up...SUPPORT THE TROOPS WITH DEEDS, NOT WORDS! OUR TROOPS NEED COMPREHENSIVE CARE --MIND, BODY AND SOUL! GIVE IT TO THEM NOW!!! Any vets who are feeling suicidal can contact: The U.S. Veterans Affairs Dept.
