Episode IV: The Flight of the Twins

The Republic continues to be mired in strife and chaos. The Jedi numbers have fallen to only a few stragglers throughout the galaxy.
Supreme Chancellor Palpatine works on instituting a military build-up unprecedented in galactic history. He wants a New Order, a Galactic Empire.
But some of the Jedi Council has managed to escape detection and have fled to the quiet planet Casabline to regroup. Among them, the twins and Chosen ones Anakin Skywalker and Anyanka Sarvo.
With the birth of Padme Amadala’s twins, a tremor is felt throughout the Force. The Council has yet to decide whether or not the tremor means anything beside the signaling the birth of two children strong with the Force.
Young Anyanka Sarvo finds her self once again alone in a most trying time as she revels in the knowledge of bringing her brother back from the dark side only to possibly face the very thing that has already touched her deeply.
Deception runs deep in the Jedi Council but the Council doesn't see it until it's too late.
The young Padawans are still the Jedi’s only hope to bring peace and order back to the Force, and now to the galaxy………

Anyanka sighed as she walked through the woods. She suddenly wanted to either bang her head against a tree or throw herself onto the ground with a roll of her eyes, but a shout directly in front of her made her blink.
“This is not on mate! NOT ON!!” someone was yelling and a roar followed. Anyanka sighed and started to jog towards the shouts and the roaring. She stopped short when she saw the scene in the clearing. Four guys about her age where darting around a full grown Pistonian Beast. Anyanka’s eyebrows drew together as she watched the Pistonian’s tongue come shooting out of its mouth and wrap around one of the guy’s necks. Without giving it much thought she pulled out her lightsaber and jumped into the fray.

A strange sound cut into the shouting and a cloaked person jumped between Petesud and the beast. From the figure Remus instantly decided that the person was a girl. She sliced through the Pistonian’s tongue and twirled her saber watching the beast as it pulled back with a cry and pulled in what remained of its tongue. It gave her a painful look then turned and ran off.

Anyanka turned and looked at the guy now on the ground coughing. “Are you alright?” She asked offering him her hand. He nodded and looked up at her, taking her hand and allowing her to pull him up. “Let me see your neck.” She said taking his chin and looking closely at where the tongue had wrapped itself. “You’re lucky.” She said taking a step back. “It wasn’t angry enough to use its poison.”
“It’s p-poison?” the guy asked blinking large eyes. Anyanka nodded then picked up the piece of tongue she sliced off and poked it in a couple of places. A large nettle-like barb sprung out from the tongue and she pointed to it.
“Those barbs are filled with poison. Pistonian Beast’s use the poison to immobilize their victims so that they are easier to eat.” She dropped the tongue and clapped her hands together then crossed her arms in front of her. “They also don’t attack unless they feel threatened, and it takes an awful lot for a Pistonian to feel threatened.”
“What can I say? Beasts are always threatened by my presence.” Another said and Anyanka turned from the blond-haired guy to look at a black-haired guy with grey eyes.
“Do forgive me if I choose not to believe that.” She told him flatly and stared at him with unblinking green eyes.
“I had everything completely under control.” He went on and Anyanka nodded.
“Yes, I could see that.” She said coolly.
“Well if I had one of those,” he said pointing to the lightsaber at her hip, “it would have been easier.”
“If you had one of these,” Anyanka said motioning to her lightsaber, “you would not have been foolish enough to mess with a Pistonian Beast.” They stared at each other for a moment then Anyanka, despite herself went on. “You must know the strengths and weaknesses of your foe before you decide to attack. Anyone with half a brain knows that it is pointless to attack a Pistonian Beast. The poison makes their meat uneatable, and they are normally not a danger.”
All they could see of her were her eyes, nose and lips, everything else was covered by a brown cloak. Although, when she was fighting the beast, Remus noticed that she wore a silver tunic over black and her moves were precise and had purpose. “You’re a Jedi Knight.” Remus stated softly and the woman looked at him and blinked.
Her heart skipped a beat when another of the guys spoke. It wasn’t because of his brown hair or soft brown eyes, or even the strange scar across his nose. It was what he said. The corner of her lip twitched and she turned away from the group, vaguely noticing the fourth guy standing behind grey eyes and brown eyes, and began to walk away. “You are aren’t you?” the guy asked and she didn’t even glance back at him. Master is going to kill me. She thought and was somewhat amused to find that it didn’t bother as much as it should. “You’re hiding here.” Now she stopped and turned to look at brown eyes who had been following her. She said nothing for a moment then with a flick of her tongue behind her teeth took in a breath.
“I’m not,” she said softly, “and you never saw me.” She again turned and began to walk away but brown eyes continued to follow.
“Was that supposed to be one of those Jedi mind tricks?” He asked almost amused. “Because it didn’t work.” Again Anyanka stopped letting her arms fall to her sides and sighed turning to face brown eyes once again.
“No, actually it was a statement.” She paused looking him up and down then snorted. “What do you know of Jedi Knights anyway?”
“I know that the Republic has declared that all Jedi are now enemies of the Republic.” Brown eyes said and Anya scowled at him. “And your presence here on this planet, one that is probably the furthest out of the Republic’s reach can only justify that.”
Anyanka’s bottom lip found its way behind her front teeth. Remus noticed that a good portion of the right side of her lower lip was colored silver. “How do you know this?” she said softly. Grey eyes chuckled as he walked up to them.
“Remus reads a lot.” He said pointing to brown eyes. “He can tell you what’s happening on almost any planet in the galaxy. Like Tattooine for example.”
“The pod races are about to start.” Both Anyanka and Remus said almost together. Anyanka smiled briefly.
“My brother used to live there.” She said softly and looked away from them. She sighed and looked back to Remus, noticing that all four guys were now standing in front of her. “What does that make you then?” She said and Remus blinked at her.
“If you are asking if we’re about to let the Republic know that a Jedi is here, the answer is no. You will find that no one on Casabline care much about the Republic. Probably, as I mentioned before, it’s because we are so far away from their grasp.”
“I know.” Anyanka admitted. “I also know that you all are not natives here. You’re too old to be.”
“No we’re not.” Remus chuckled. “A lot of us moved here a few years ago. All for different reasons of course.” Anyanka nodded.
“Are you really a Jedi?” The blond one asked, his blue eyes wide and curious and Anya smiled despite herself.
“A Padawan actually.” She said.
“A Padawan?” He asked and grey eyes rolled his eyes.
“She’s a Jedi in training Petesud. Really, haven’t you been paying attention?” He said and then smirked. “So Jedi-in-training, any good with Tascari Beasts?” He asked and Anyanka nodded slowly giving him a strange look. “Good.” He stated then pointed behind her. “Then we’ll leave you to take care of that one.” He gave her a smile and turned to leave.
“Sirius!” Remus said harshly as Anyanka turned and looked at the beast. It slowly ambled towards them, its tail swishing from side to side as its tongue dangled out the side of its large beak. The scales along its body gleamed in the sun, reflecting many colors. Its four powerful legs easily snapped the fallen trees underneath its feet. It looked like a cross between a dragon and a lizard. The black eyes blinked at her and she smiled and turned back to the guys.
“This one’s alright.” She said as the Tascari stopped behind her and eyed the young men. “Her name is Boga. She’s been my friend since I was little. She won’t harm you, unless she doesn’t like you.” Boga lowered her head and gave Anyanka a soft push from behind then nuzzled her beak into Anya’s neck making the hood of her cloak fall back. Remus’ eyes went wide and he stared at her. Her hair was fiery red and fell to her shoulders in curls. But the front of her hair, where her bangs would be if they weren’t blended in with the rest of her hair, was solid black. A few curls were singled out throughout her hair by a silver color that didn’t start at the scalp, but rather half way down the length of her hair.
“You’re Anyanka.” Remus said and she looked at him. “And it’s true; you really did fight the Sith Lord.” Anya’s hand went to a black curl and she looked at Boga.
“I have to go.” She whispered then quickly turned to leave. No one stopped her; Remus’ eyes followed her as Boga walked happily beside her.
“That was Anyanka?” The fourth guy said looking at her.
“Yes Jamlon, it was.” Remus stated as she disappeared out of sight.
“Wicked.” Sirius said with a smile that made Remus’ insides do a flip.

Anyanka’s mind was now filled with the strange meeting she just encountered. She needed to tell the Jedi Council immediately what she now knew. It meant they had to be even more careful when traveling to other planets. If the people on Casabline knew of the Republic’s new hatred of the Jedis then other places will more in likely know as well. She knew that Casabline was to be their new home, and that the possibility of the Republic finding them here were very slim. Her father had removed all knowledge of this planet and the stars surrounding it from the Archives, possibly for this very reason. And she knew the natives of Casabline would never betray her, they owed her too much to even think of doing so. She glanced at the large house now looming across the lake to her right and smiled. Padme’s laugh floated across the lake to her. She was sitting with Anakin and the week old twins on a blanket on the other side of the lake. Anya smiled and Boga bounced ahead.
“Be gentle Boga,” Anyanka told him, “They are just babies.” Boga made a barking noise and bounded around the large lake. She slowed as she reached Anakin and lowered herself to her belly, her tail swinging back and fourth massively. A tail that can, and has, taken down any man or droid whether or not Boga had intended it to. A tail that has also taken out a few pillars now and again as well. Boga was happy to be on a green planet once again. The city-planet Coruscant was no place for her, since she was born on Alderaan, a planet of peace and wide open spaces. She was beginning to grow too big for the large gardens at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Her kind was mainly found on Utapau, and no one ever thought to wonder what a Tascari was doing on Alderaan.
Anyanka smiled as Anakin headed towards her. He gave her a warm smile and pulled her into a hug. “Where have you been?” He asked softly pulling back to look at her.
“Thinking. Walking and thinking.” Anya replied. She began walking again and Anakin joined her. Side by side they walked in silence until Anakin looked at her from the corner of his eye.
“Are you alright?” He asked and Anya raised an eyebrow.
“I think so.” She replied squinting in the sun for a moment. “I didn’t like him that much and I knew.”
“You knew but choose to ignore it?” Anakin said, now looking at her. “Anya, why would you ignore your training?” Anya laughed and looked at her older-by-seven-minutes brother.
“Now you sound like Master Kenobi.” Anya said, her green eyes dancing with laughter.
“Or Master Vacai?” Anakin asked smiling. Anya nodded and sighed.
“Pick any Master Ani. After a while they tend to sound the same.” Anya said sadly and Anakin wrinkled his brow.
“Something deeper is bothering you.” Anakin said firmly but looked at her fondly. Anya smiled and told him of the four guys in the woods and he nodded towards the temple. “The council should know.” He stated and Anya nodded.
“It’s where I’m heading.” She said then let a sly smile cross her face. “Eventually.”
“Looks like you won’t have to go to them. They are coming to us.” Anakin said and Anya looked in the direction of the temple. Three Jedis were walking towards them; Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin’s master, Master Thartan Vacai, Anyanka’s master, and Master Yoda.
“Secrets from them are hard.” Anya said then made a face. “But I sense that they have something else in mind for us Padawans.” Anakin nodded as they were joined by the three Masters. Anakin and Anyanka bowed slightly and they all walked along the edge of the lake towards Padme and Boga.
“Much on your mind young Padawan?” Master Vacai asked Anya and the silver side of her lips twitched.
“I have had a most interesting encounter Master.” Anya said and proceeded to go over the details once again.
“Not unusual this is.” Master Yoda said. “Careful we must be.”
“Surely the people of Casabline would not betray us?” Anakin asked and Master Yoda nodded.
“Safe we are.” He said stopping just short of Boga’s swinging tail. “Strong here the Force is. It is other places I worry about.” There was a silent agreement and Anya looked back to the woods.
“Master, is there something you require of us?” Anya asked and Master Yoda chuckled.
“Yes actually.” Master Kenobi said with a smile. “We need you to see if you can’t contact any other Jedis that may be alive and let them know where we are.”
“That will take a trip to the archives. Their computers are more able to reach far distances than the ones I have here.” Anya said and then smiled. “I can also ask if anyone else has sent any transmissions lately.”
“Good. Good.” Yoda said.

“Princess Anyanka, what a pleasure to see you again.” A very tall slender woman said upon seeing her and Anakin walking through the massive doors. Anya smiled and took the woman by the hands and gave them a squeeze.
“Kaia, it has been awhile hasn’t it?” Anya asked as they walked together.
“Many years has gone by. I was afraid you had forgotten all about us Casablinians.” Kaia said teasingly. “What can I help a Jedi with today?” Anya smiled and looked over her shoulder at Anakin. Try as they may, they couldn’t get the natives of Casabline to call them Padawans. To them they were already Jedi Knights, so correcting them was useless.
“Well, you can tell me if anyone has sent or received any transmissions from anywhere near or in the Republic.” Anya said and Kaia stopped and closed her eyes. Anya knew she was talking to Taima the archives keeper, who knew everything that went on and what was looked up in the archives of Casabline.
“Nothing as been received or sent I’m afraid.” Kaia said after a few minutes. “But you are being watched with great interest.” She commented smiling and Anya blinked.
“Watched?” Anakin asked and Kaia looked over to a row of consoles and Anya groaned inwardly. “Do you know them?” Anakin whispered about the five people gathered around a console.
“Well, the guys are the ones I spoke of earlier, but the girl I have not seen.” Anya said and Kaia smiled.
“They have been pulling all kinds of information on you, your highness.” Kaia informed them.
“Could this be a bad thing?” Anya asked Anakin and before he could reply Kaia laughed softly.
“They mean no harm. Just curious.” Kaia said.
“Do you know them?” Anakin asked again, this time to Kaia. She nodded slowly with a smile.
“The one sitting is Remus Lucan. He is in here almost every day looking over starcharts and reading the latest news from your Republic. The one to his left is Jamlon Prodon. He isn’t in here all that much, but we do see him from time to time. The woman next to him is Lilea Eveva. I believe her and Jamlon are, as your kind says, dating. The one to Remus’ right is hardly ever in here, the only time we see him is to drag Remus out on one of his many adventures. His name is Sirius Padqulub. And the shy quiet one beside Sirius is Petesud Worsea. Keeps to himself, although very curious about speeders and the like. They all go to a school just beyond Sarvo Mountain that teaches how to use the Force. Much like your Jedi Council does, but with the use of something they call a wand and incantations. I think they all are finishing or have finished their last year there.” Kaia told them without a pause. Her voice flowed softly like a trickling river.
Casablinians were known for their soothing voices and graceful manner. They were tall beings, and generally quite slender. Almost reminded Anya of the Kaminoans on Kamino who had created the Clone Army for the Republic. Kaia didn’t once look over at the group, who were still staring in Anya’s direction as she spoke. “I believe the console next to them on the right and across will serve your purposes well.” Kaia remarked and Anya nodded. “If you need any assistance, just think on it and I will be there to assist you.” Kaia gave them one last smile then turned and walked to the end of the large room and turned, disappearing behind a tall pillar.
“I think we can get this done quicker if we both take a console.” Anya said turning toward the group, ignoring their stares.
“If you don’t mind,” Anakin said trying to hide a smile, “I think I’ll take the one across from them.”
“Thanks.” Anya said flatly and Anakin gave her shoulder a squeeze.
“What are older brothers for?”
“Seven minutes Anakin. You are only seven minutes older.” Anya reminded him, making an exasperated face as he slid into the seat in front of the console and Anya made the short trip around the one to Anakin’s left to sit on Remus’ right. The one called Petesud pushed back a bit against Sirius and Anya suppressed a smile but glanced at Anakin who was pretending not to notice. “I hear you have been reading up on me.” Anya said looking at her screen. “Perhaps a school project you are working on?” She asked pushing a few buttons. No one said anything and Anya looked over at them. “Or is it just mild curiosity? Perhaps you are hoping to find the secret to how I managed to survive a Sith attack? Well, the secret sits across from you.” Anya informed them then looked back to her screen. She could almost hear the tendons in their necks as they all looked back to Anakin, who was still pretending not to notice them.
“Your boyfriend a Padawan learner like you, or a full blown Jedi?” Sirius asked leaning lightly against Remus’ shoulder who tried to elbow him in the leg.
“If I had a boyfriend Sirius Padqulub, I would actually like him to be neither.” Anya answered searching her screen. “And besides, he’s married.” Anya continued nodding in Anakin’s direction. She sat for a moment scanning her screen then blinked and looked over at them. “And he’s my brother.” Anya said giving them a look and turning back to her screen.
“Nice of you to finally add that last part, Anyanka.” Anakin said almost smiling. Anya smirked then pointed to her screen.
“I think I found one. I’m going to bounce the signal around a few systems in case the Republic happens to notice we’re not all dead.” Anya said and Anakin nodded.
“Send it through the Delabah System; it’ll bounce around like crazy off all those asteroids.” Anakin suggested and Anya smiled.
“Just what I was thinking actually.” She said and Anakin laughed.
“I know.” He said and they looked at each other for a moment.
“How can he,” the one called Lilea asked pointing to Anakin, “be your brother? You look to be the same age.”
“We are the same age.” Anakin replied and Anya smiled.
“They’re twins.” Remus said. “They are the twins.” Anya arched an eyebrow and looked over at Anakin who was looking straight at Remus. “The Jedi have this prophecy that states that two children are to be born from the midi-chlorians they are the ones to bring balance back to the Force.” Anya slowly turned and looked at Remus who was staring at her in complete fascination that made Anya squirm.
“It is a good thing that Sirius here drags you out on adventures Remus Lucan, because you should spend more time living life and less time reading about it.” Anya told him, making him blink.
“That was on the harsh side Anyanka.” Anakin told her and she looked at him.
“D.I.L.L.I.G.A.F. Anakin?” Anya said then turned back to her screen. “I do not like people knowing so much about me in times like these.” She grumbled more to her self. “And yes, I am the Princess of Casabline, my sister Angelina, is the Queen, and yes it has everything to do with me crashing into Sarvo Mountain when I was thirteen, which in case you don’t already know, is why the Casablinians call it Sarvo Mountain to begin with.”
“Actually we did already know that.” Petesud suddenly burst out and Anya jabbed hard at a button.
“I’m sorry, is there anything you don’t know that you would like to know Petesud Worsea that you can’t find on a console?” Anya asked turning to face him and his round face went white.
“How do you know my name?” He asked without thinking and Anya smirked.
“I’m a Jedi remember?” She said.
“Padawan.” Sirius corrected and Anya looked at him.
“Not much difference now is there?” Anya asked and Remus opened his mouth to disagree but a look from Anya and it snapped closed. Anakin slammed his palm onto the table beside his console and Anya looked at him.
Control you anger Anyanka! He told her wordlessly.
Bite me older brother! As if you don’t loose it from time to time! Anya shot back at him mentally.
And every time I do, Master Kenobi lectures me on it. Anakin reminded her.
Well neither Master Kenobi nor Master Vacai is here to lecture now are they? Anya asked and Anakin sighed.
It’s not the Jedi way Anya. He told her with a soft expression.
Which is why we are only Padawan learners with much left to learn. Anya thought back to him.
You said yourself that you sensed that they would not betray us. Anakin stated glancing at the group who sat wordlessly looking from Anya to Anakin and back.
I still sense it. Doesn’t mean I have to like them knowing so much. It makes me weary. Master Yoda has told us to use caution, if they ever left Casabline and the Republic caught up with them……Anya let her train of thought drift off and Anakin nodded.
“I know, but we will worry about that when and if that day ever comes.” Anakin said a loud making the group jump. Anya ignored them and turned back to her screen and poked at a few more buttons.
“You know, I wish those two could do that.” Sirius said jamming a thumb over his shoulder at Jamlon and Lilea. “Then I wouldn’t have to hear all that ‘Your hair catches the sun beautifully Lilea.’ Or ‘Jamlon, not in public!’” Anya twitched her nose then smirked.
“Wait until they get married Sirius. It gets a lot worst.” She said glancing at Anakin who wrinkled his brow and looked at her.
“I don’t sound like that!” Jamlon whispered hoarsely to Sirius punching him in the arm making Sirius laugh.
“No, usually you are making slurping noises.” Sirius shot back and Anya laughed. Jamlon made a half hearted leap at Sirius who quickly dodged him.
“Will you two stop it!” Lilea demanded but laughed as Sirius artfully dodged a playful punch from Jamlon. Remus groaned and put his head in his hand.
“Come on, let’s get out of here.” Sirius said clapping a hand on Remus’ shoulder. “We’ve been here all day.”
“Two hours Sirius, we’ve been here maybe two hours.” Remus stated but stood anyway.
“That is long enough for me.” Sirius said and then looked at Anya. “Let’s give the Jedi some quiet time to do their top secret stuff. I know she sure doesn’t need you hanging over her shoulder asking questions Remus.” Anya had no doubt the she Sirius was referring to was her. She silently thanked him.
“Your welcome.” Sirius said and then stopped and looked at her. She only offered a sly smile to the question possibly burning behind those grey eyes of his. Jamlon grabbed Sirius by the sleeve and proceeded to pull him out the door.

“We’ve made contact with six Jedis Master.” Anakin reported with a bow. “And they all should be here within the next couple of days.”
“Good.” Master Kenobi said placing a hand on Anakin’s shoulder. “Master Yoda will be pleased to hear it.”
“Where’s Anyanka?” Master Vacai asked looking around. A large boom was then heard over by the parked speeders and three mechanic droids shot out of the hanger.
“Playing with power converters.” Anakin replied smiling as Anya walked out of the hanger with only a glance back at the billowing black smoke now pouring out of the bay door.
“Well, that didn’t work.” Anya said rubbing her hand on her leg.
“It’s a wonder she hasn’t blown her self up.” Master Vacai stated crossing his arms in front of him as Anya approached.
“She’s much too clever for that.” Master Kenobi said smiling as Anya, sighing and looking back to the hanger, stopped beside Anakin.
“You reversed the power cuplinks.” Anakin informed her and she raised her eyebrows.
“Oh, is that what I did?” She asked looking thoughtful. Master Kenobi and Vacai exchanged glances.
“Come youngling,” Master Vacai said holding out his arm to Anya. “I sense some anger training is in order.” Anya’s eyes went wide and she punched Anakin in the ribs.
“I said nothing!” Anakin cried in defense but was laughing at Anya’s expression as he held his ribs. “That kind of hurt Anyanka.” Anakin said and then punched her hard on the shoulder. Anya wrinkled her nose and quickly reached up and flicked his earlobe. Anakin was about to reach over and grab her bottom lip when both Masters held up their hands.
“Stop!” They both said and the two frozen in mid battle. The sight itself was funny enough and both Masters turned their backs to their Padawans so they could not see the smiles.
“Siblings.” Master Vacai muttered and Kenobi looked over at him as they began to walk toward the temple.
“Didn’t you have any?” He asked and Vacai shook his head.
“No, thankfully I was an only child.” He said and glanced back in time to see Anakin wack Anya on the back of her head as they followed. Neither Master said or did anything when Anakin went flying to the side landing in a laughing heap. Master Kenobi sighed but smiled.
Anakin picked himself up and launched himself at Anya just as Master Vacai turned around to speak to her. He closed his eyes with a sigh as Anya disappeared and rolled head over heels with Anakin in the grass.
“I guess their mothers should be thankful they didn’t share the same womb.” Vacai said as Anya got the upper hand. Master Kenobi nodded with raised eyebrows as Anakin’s elbow dug painfully into Anya’s thigh.
