Chapter One
He rode through the gates of Xavier’s School For Gifted Youngsters in the early afternoon. He was tired, but his senses were alert. He could hear the kids playing on the basketball court, and the ones racing each other through the grounds of the school. He could smell the summer grass and someone somewhere was trimming the hedges. For anyone else hearing and smelling the things he was is normal...except for the fact that he was still a long way off from the school itself. The driveway was long, and the basketball courts were found on the back lawns of the schoolyard. Add the fact that he was on a motorcycle, which was nearly impossible for anyone to hear above the revving of the motor to begin with, and one would wonder how it was possible he could hear anything.
Logan smiled as he spotted the vast mansion that was the school. He hadn’t been here for almost a year, and yet it still looked the same. As he slowed the motorcycle to a stop in front of the mansion he wondered again why he had returned. He didn’t really need to be here. But his venture to find some answers to his past was a complete failure. The military compound in the Canadian Rockies was indeed deserted of any clues that would lead to any answers. When it came to the Canadian Military covering their tracks, they were good. So he came back to the only place that could help him find any answers. It was Professor Charles Xavier that told him about the military compound, and Logan hoped that he could be of some more help.
He walked into the hall and was greeted by activity. The school would be out for the summer, but since almost all of its students were runaways, the kids would still be there. They had nowhere else to go, since they were outcasts of a peculiar sort, no one else wanted them around. Logan watched as a group of youngsters walked around the corner talking about horseback riding. Indeed the place hadn’t changed in his short time away. There were probably more students, and perhaps some more teachers, but the building was the same. The living room was still huge with its big screen TV, couches, and chairs. The décor was still the same, and so was the smell. Logan dropped his bag by one of the couches and only had time to turn when a familiar face attacked him.
“Logan!” the young girl had brown hair with a white streak for bangs, and she threw her arms around his neck in a hug.
“Rogue.” Logan said getting a good look at her. Rogue smiled at him.
“You came back” she said. Logan smiled and noticed a chain around her neck. He reached for it, careful not to touch her skin, and pulled a dog tag from her shirt.
“I told you I would come back for this.” Rogue looked at the dog tag and smiled.
“Is that all you came back for?” she asked. Logan smiled and chuckled.
“No, not really.” Rogue smiled at his answer and took his hand in her gloved one.
“Professor Xavier will want to see you right away.” She said leading him to the Professor’s office. She opened the door, but before she could say anything she noticed the look on the Professor’s face and she knew that he already knew Logan had returned.
“Logan, it’s so nice to see you again.” Professor Xavier said with a knowing smile.
“Professor.” Logan said with a nod. Rogue smiled.
“I’ll see you later Logan,” she said as she started to shut the door behind her. “I want to tell you about all that’s happened while you were away.” After Rogue had left Professor Xavier came out from behind his desk in his wheelchair.
“I take it you didn’t find many answers at the compound.” He said looking at Logan curiously.
“Something tells me you know that as a fact Charles.” Logan replied as he sat down in a chair. Charles chuckled as he nodded. Logan looked at him for a moment.
“How’s…” Logan began.
“Jean is fine. So are Scott, and Ororo.” Charles finished for him with a look. Logan smiled and looked out a window. “We have had many new faces since you left Logan.” Charles continued. “One, which may be a help to find you your answers.” Logan looked at Charles with questions in his eyes. Charles held up his hand to keep Logan from asking the questions. Logan knew that he didn’t need to ask, for Charles already knew what the questions were.
“Her name is Sarabi Vosloo.” Charles said and then waited. Logan looked at him and felt like he wanted something from him.
“And?” was all Logan said. Charles sighed.
“She also was in the compound with you Logan, and she knows you well.” Logan raised an eyebrow at this and just sat there. “She won’t talk about it, but as you know she doesn’t need to with me. She rather forget the whole thing then rehash it in her mind.” Logan shifted in his seat and again looked out the window.
“So do you have any ideas on making her talk?” Logan asked. Charles laughed at this and shook his head.
“You don’t make Sarabi talk about anything. You’ll see.” Logan looked at Charles with an annoyed look. “Don’t worry, she will talk about it. Specially now that they have gone back to their old ways.” Logan looked at Charles startled but before he could say anything the office door opened. A medium height red head woman walked in, followed by a man with brown hair and wearing a pair of what looked to be wrap around sunglasses, he was followed by a dark skinned woman with shockingly white hair. Logan knew these three as Jean, Scott, and Ororo. The woman who walked in after Ororo, Logan didn’t know. She was of average height, her skin was dark, but not as dark as Ororo’s, and her hair was a mix between dark brown and red.
“You wanted to see us Professor?” Jean asked and then smiled when she saw Logan. Charles smiled and turned his wheelchair to face the others.
“Jean, Scott, Ororo, I am sure you remember Logan.” Charles said. The look on Scott’s face was that he did remember Logan, but it wasn’t a happy moment in time. Ororo smiled at him and nodded. Jean just smiled a little uncomfortably. The other woman who had come in plopped herself down in a chair opposite of Logan’s and was looking at him.
“Logan, this is Sarabi Vosloo. She has taken over in teaching the students how to use their powers, plus a few other activities.” Sarabi smiled at Logan when Charles made the introduction. Charles went back behind his desk and rested his hands on its top.
“I asked you all here because..” Charles began but stopped as the office door burst open again. This time a man with dark hair came in.
“Sorry I’m late. What did I miss?” he said as he sat on the other side of Ororo on the couch.
“Nothing yet, Remy.” Sarabi said with a small smile.
“I was about to tell them what the Canadian Government is again doing.” Charles said with a sad look. “They have kidnapped mutants to do experiments on them.” Jean’s eyes went wide and she glanced at Logan. Logan was however looking right at Sarabi, she had seemed to sink into the chair just a bit more than she was before. Sarabi was looking at the floor.
“They have taken up their old compound, just miles away from where you were Logan.” Sarabi’s eyes jumped to Logan’s. She stared at him for a moment, and then looked back to the floor.
“Are you suggesting we go in there and rescue the mutants?” Scott asked with a no nonsense tone. Charles smiled and nodded. “What information do we have on the compound?” Scott asked. Charles sighed and glanced toward Sarabi.
“Nothing yet.” He answered. Scott stood and walked towards the door.
“I’ll see what I can find out.” He said and glanced for a brief moment towards Logan. Logan was still looking at Sarabi. She stood up and looked at Charles. She didn’t say anything but Charles nodded to her anyway. With a look toward Logan she left the office. Jean, Ororo, and Remy followed her out, Logan stood and was about to leave but Charles stopped him.
“Logan.” He began.
“If she knows anything, why isn’t she saying?” Logan asked. Charles sighed and came around his desk.
“She doesn’t recognize you. I am sure she will soon. But until then, I don’t want to force anything out of her.” Charles calmly explained.
“Why not? If there are others like us who are in danger why not strangle it out of her?” Charles raised an eyebrow and smiled.
“You don’t know Sarabi.” Was all he said. Logan looked at him then stormed out of his office.
Sarabi walked quietly down the hall to her office. She shook her head as she opened the door and walked in. She leaned against the closed door with her eyes closed for a moment. When she opened them she took a good look around her office. Her eyes fell on the multitude of Egyptian artifacts that by all right should be in a museum. She didn’t have to dig for them, and they were after all hers. She picked up a bust of Queen Nefertiti and looked at it longingly. Memories filled every corner of her mind. She saw her sister and her practicing for the princess battles that were held every year in their father, the Pharaoh Seti’s kingdom. She saw the army of Egypt following her into battle as they once again defended their home from would-be conquerors. She watched as her father’s priest Imhotep and his mistress Anuck-su-namun killed her father. Sarabi closed her eyes again tight to the memories. Her office door opened and she replaced the bust on the shelf and turned to see who had entered. Sarabi smiled as Katherine walked into her office with a smile.
“You okay Sarabi?” she asked. Sarabi put on her best smile.
“Yes, just thinking is all.” She answered giving the bust one last look before walking to her desk.
“What were you thinking about?” Katherine asked. Sarabi waved her hand in the air as if trying to swat a fly.
“Nothing important. What’s up Kitty?” Sarabi sank into her plush chair and looked at Katherine with a smile.
“Just wanted to know if you have met the new guy who just got here.” Kitty said sitting on the edge of Sarabi’s desk and giving her a mysterious smile.
“Logan?” Sarabi asked and then sighed as Kitty nodded. “Yes, briefly.”
“You know you came back shortly after he left.” Kitty said pretending to be interested in the pens on Sarabi’s desk.
“So I have heard. He came in with Rogue originally yes?” Sarabi said leaning back in her chair to get a better look at Kitty.
“Yeah.” Kitty said then slyly looked at Sarabi. “Not to bad looking is he?” Sarabi laughed and leaned forward.
“What are you up to Kitty?” Kitty’s eyes opened wide in mock disbelief.
“What do you mean?” she said innocently.
“Not to bad looking?” Sarabi said lacing her fingers together in font of her.
“What? Can’t a gal comment on the appearance of a man?” Kitty asked with a pout. Sarabi looked at her closely.
“I suppose a gal could.” She finally said and turned her chair toward the window to look out.
“So?” Kitty asked coming around Sarabi’s desk.
“So what?”
“You didn’t answer my question.” Kitty stated looking a little hurt. Sarabi sat for a moment looking at her then sighed.
“Yes, I suppose he does. I wasn’t really paying much attention.” Kitty raised her eyebrow and looked at Sarabi seriously.
“Then there really is something wrong if you didn’t notice a good looking guy in the same room as you.” Sarabi slowly turned her chair to face Kitty.
“Nothing that needs to worry you.” Sarabi said quietly. Kitty stood in front of Sarabi and then kneeled down to look her in the eyes.
“Sarabi, anything that worries you, worries me. You know that.” Kitty said quietly. Sarabi smiled and placed a hand on Kitty’s cheek. “You took me in when my own parents didn’t want me because of what I am. You raised me, protected me, and then when you thought it was too dangerous, you brought me here. Granted you took off for a very long time. But you came back.” Sarabi leaned forward and planted a kiss on Kitty’s forehead. “So what’s wrong Sarabi?” Sarabi sighed for the hundredth time that day and let her hand fall into her lap.
“The Canadian Government is at it again.” Sarabi all but whispered. Kitty’s eyes roamed down to the chain around Sarabi’s neck. You couldn’t see it, but on the end of that chain was a dog tag.
“The same thing?” Kitty whispered and Sarabi nodded. It was Kitty’s turn to sigh. “I suppose Professor Xavier wants you and the X-Men to go in and save the mutants they have hostage?” Sarabi smiled weakly and nodded.
“Charles knows I am the only one who knows how to get safely in and out of the compound.” Sarabi said looking at Kitty with a sad smile.
“Well except for you know who.” Kitty said with a smile. Sarabi laughed for a moment.
“Yes. Except for Wolverine. And God knows where he is.”
Rogue was waiting for Logan outside of the Professor’s office. When she saw him come storming out she sighed.
“Didn’t go well huh?” She asked. Logan stopped and looked at her.
“What do you know about Sarabi?” he asked. Rogue smiled.
“A lot. What do you want to know?” Rogue said and started walking. Logan fell in beside her.
“If she knows about the compound why won’t she say anything?” Logan asked then looked at Rogue. “I guess you don’t know about the compound..” Rogue held up her hand.
“Everybody knows what’s going on.” Rogue said.
“I’m sorry, it’s just that you looked puzzled.” Logan stated.
“Well that would be because I am.” Rogue said. Logan looked at her and she laughed. “I don’t know why Sarabi wouldn’t say anything. Everyone knows she was there, although she never talks about it. But it would look like she got away without any damage.” Rogue explained “But because she doesn’t talk about it, no one knows what happened. I don’t suppose it would be something I would want to talk about if I went through it.” Rogue gave Logan a sideways glance that he didn’t see, or just ignored. Logan was still visibly upset with the whole thing and Rogue sighed.
“Sarabi has been through a lot Logan. She’s older than the Professor. They say that she’s the first mutant to walk the earth. You know, she’s like you in many ways.” At this Logan gave her a look of disbelief. “She can regenerate, she has heightened senses, and she’s been in the same boat as you with the Canadian Government.” Rogue explained with a small smile. Logan didn’t say anything. They walked for a few minutes in silence.
“She’s the Fifth Element.” Rogue said and watched Logan carefully. Logan stopped and looked at Rogue.
“I thought the Fifth Element was just a myth.” Logan finally said. Rogue shook her head.
“No, she’s quite real.”
Sarabi sat at her desk looking over some files on the new students the school will have come September. She smiled at the file she was reading.
“Jubilation Lee.” She said out loud to her self. “Former street performer from Beverly Hills, California” She read quickly over the file and raised her eyebrows.
“Superhuman ability to generate energy globules that very in degrees of power and intensity. The globules obey her mental control, traveling where she directs them, arranging themselves in balls, streamers, and other shapes, and exploding when she wishes. Wow. She must be a blast at fourth of July parties.” Sarabi loved to read the student files. She was always impressed at the powers each student possessed, and since it was her job to teach the students how to control their powers, it helped to know before hand what each one could do. She smiled as she remembered last year, she taught a student named Kurt Wagner. He had teleportation abilities and teaching him to control it was an adventure in its self! She couldn’t remember how many times they ended up way off target. Kurt was supposed to teleport them both from the classroom to the stables. Unfortunately that’s not where they ended up. Sarabi wasn’t even sure they were still in New York. All she knew was they ended up in some seedy bar, with a lot of big mean looking men, all who were not happy at their sudden intrusion. Before she could tell Kurt to teleport them somewhere else, he had disappeared into the shadows and she was left to deal with the men by herself. Which was an easy task for her. She was a US Marine and knew how to fight with the best of them. Just because her opponents were twice her size didn’t made no nevermind to her. After half the bar was moaning on the floor and the bar tender had pulled out a double barrel shotgun did Kurt come to his senses. He grabbed her arm just as the shotgun went off, and they found themselves in some dark alley, which was blessedly free of any humans. After a few more tries, they found themselves in familiar territory and Sarabi called a cab to take them back to the school.
A knock on her office door brought Sarabi back to the present.
“It’s open.” Remy poked his head in and smiled.
“You busy?” he asked looking at the files on her desk.
“Just reading about the new students we will have this coming year, come in Remy, something on your mind?” Remy walked in and shut the door. He sat down in a chair and looked around her office. Sarabi watched him with a smile.
“I was just wondering if you’re okay.” Remy finally said.
“Yes I am fine, why wouldn’t I be?” Sarabi asked looking back at Jubilation Lee’s file. Remy watched her for a moment then leaned forward in his chair.
“Sarabi.” He said. Sarabi looked up and didn’t say anything. “You don’t have to play tough with me.” Sarabi smiled.
“Who said I was playing?” she asked and Remy laughed.
“You’re telling me that this thing with the Canadian Government doesn’t bother you the least little bit?” Remy challenged her. Sarabi closed the file and tossed it aside.
“Why does everyone think it bothers me?”
“I saw the look on your face when Charles told us about what’s going on. You are good at hiding your feelings Princess, but just for a moment you let them show.” Sarabi just sat there looking at Remy. She shrugged her shoulders and sighed.
“It bothers me that they have the balls to continue their little experiments, and in the same compound as before. The question is, why did they stop in the first place?” Sarabi asked to no one in particular. Remy looked at her and chuckled.
“You’re kidding right?” he asked her. Sarabi scowled at him.
“What do you mean I’m kidding?”
“If I was the Canadian Military and I let you escape, I wouldn’t sit around for long either.” Remy said with a smile on his face.
“I fought like hell to get out of there, why would I go back?” Sarabi said still scowling.
“Because you can kick the living daylights out of anyone you choose, and they didn’t know if you were going to come back with an army, and knowing what you could do…” Remy whistled.
“They didn’t know I was the Fifth Element, good thing to. I don’t even want to think about what they would have done with that knowledge.” Sarabi leaned back in her chair.
“How in the world did they miss that? Remy asked with sarcasm in his voice. Sarabi gave Remy a pointed look.
“I don’t know.” Sarabi said flatly. Remy smiled.
“So what about this Logan fellow huh?” he asked her. Sarabi looked at him with a soft smile.
“If this is your way of changing the subject, you’re horrible at it.” She said almost laughing.
“And if that was your way of dodging the question…” Remy trailed off.
“I am not dodging anything. What is there to say about Logan?” Sarabi stated looking a little annoyed.
“How about how good looking he is, although he’s not my type..” Remy said smiling like a Cheshire cat. Sarabi’s eyes narrowed at him.
“Katherine Pryde!” Sarabi almost yelled. “What ever scheme she is hatching, you stay out of it Remy, do you hear me?” Sarabi’s demand was met with a smile. She stood up and walked around her desk to stand in front of Remy. “The last thing I need is for you two to start this again. Not now, hell not ever!” Sarabi’s voice had raised a few notches. Remy held up his hands as if he was defending himself.
“Kitty just wants you to be happy, and can I help it if I do to?” he said trying hard not to laugh.
“Who says I am not happy with the way things are now?” Sarabi asked crossing her arms across her chest.
“We just figured you would be less likely to be on the war path all the time if you had a man in your life is all.” Remy said laughing. Sarabi glared at him and Remy laughed even harder. “You know, if looks could kill…” Remy started but abruptly stopped. He stood up and with a smile crossed his arms across his chest and looked Sarabi right in her eyes.
“I see a lot of the fire element in you.” He said. Sarabi uncrossed her arms and took a step forward to where they were now standing chest to chest.
“You are gonna see some of that fire element if you’re not careful.” Sarabi said glaring at Remy. He smiled and was about to say something back when someone clearing his or her throat caught his attention.
“Should I get some popcorn?” Rogue asked with a big smile. Remy smiled at Rogue and looked back at Sarabi who was still glaring at him. Sarabi’s hair started to turn solid red and a fire started in the fireplace and began to roar. Remy held up his hands with a smile.
“Whoa now Princess, don’t let me be the one to start a fire under your ass.” He said leaning a little closer to her. The fire was getting louder and Remy turned to look at it
“Behave Princess, you have company. Save the fire for him.” Remy said nodding in Rogue and Logan’s direction. Sarabi took a step back and opened her mouth, but Remy quickly kissed her on the cheek and made a quick retreat out the door. He stopped beside Logan and smiled at him.
“Better watch this one, Logan. She’s fiery.” Remy glanced back at Sarabi and left. Sarabi stood there looking at the door and growled.
“Don’t let Remy get to you Sarabi…you know he does stuff like that for fun.” Rogue said walking into Sarabi’s office. Sarabi looked at her and sighed. The fire disappeared from the fireplace and her hair went back to its normal color of dark brown and red. Sarabi rubbed her forehead as she walked back to her chair. After she sat back down she noticed that Rogue was smiling at her.
“What is it Rogue?” Sarabi asked.
“It’s just…I love how you can always tell what element you are using by just looking at you.” Rogue said. Sarabi sighed but smiled. Rogue looked back at Logan who was still standing at Sarabi’s office door. Sarabi smiled.
“Don’t tell me that in order for you to come in I have to invite you.” Sarabi said now really smiling. Rogue laughed.
“He’s not a vampire Sarabi. Maybe a little scared..” Rogue said smiling. Sarabi laughed.
“Don’t worry, Remy and I are always like that. It’s nothing new.” Sarabi was actually smiling a real smile, fist time all afternoon.
“What did Rogue mean when she said you can tell what element you are using by looking at you?” Logan asked as he walked into the office, closing the door behind him. Sarabi smiled and looked to Rogue to explain.
“You see, when Sarabi uses the fire element, her hair turns solid red. If she uses the earth element, her hair turns solid brown. But, and I love these ones, if she uses the water element her eyes turn green, and for air, her eyes turn blue.” Rogue explained proudly. Logan took a good look at Sarabi. He noticed for the first time that Sarabi’s eyes were the only indication that she was different than anyone else. At first glance they looked blue, but if one were to take a closer look, they would see a definite ring of green around her pupils.
“Well, I need to go find Kitty,” Rogue said walking to the door. Sarabi glared in her direction as she opened the door. Rogue smiled. “Play nice.” Rogue laughed softly and shut the door. She stood at the door a moment and looked at it.
“They’re gonna kill each other.” She said with a sigh and walked down the hall.
“So you are the Fifth Element huh?” Logan asked looking at Sarabi’s office with some interest.
“That’s what the mark says.” Sarabi answered watching Logan carefully. He looked at her with a raised eyebrow.
“So you do have the mark.” He stated more than asked. Sarabi looked at her left wrist. There was a leather band with Egyptian markings about two and a half inches wide covering her wrist. Under it she knew was the mark.
“Yes. Why would I lie about something like that? Anyway, if I did Charles would know, now wouldn’t he?” Sarabi sat back in her chair and watched Logan as he walked around her office.
“What’s with all the Egyptian stuff?” he asked.
“I’m Egyptian.” Sarabi replied getting up and walking toward Logan. “I was born to Pharaoh Seti the first.” Logan stopped and looked at her.
“You’re that Sarabi? As in the general of the Egyptian armies Sarabi?” he asked. Sarabi smiled.
“You know your history. Funny. Didn’t take you for a history kind of guy.” Sarabi was standing right next to him. He looked at her for a moment, and then pointed to something on a shelf.
“Who’s this?” he asked.
“My sister Nefertiti. She became queen of Egypt after my parents died. She let me continue commanding the army, and shared her thrown with me, but I wasn’t ever really the queen type of girl. I was happy just being a princess, and a general.” Sarabi replied looking again at the bust. “Pretty much everything in this room is stuff I carried with me from Egypt. Nothing has ever seen the darkness of the sand.”
“Why did you leave?” Logan asked.
“My sister died, and her eldest son took over the thrown. He didn’t like the way his mother handled her affairs, and needless to say, I wasn’t his favorite aunt either. So he took away my command of the army, and told me to leave Egypt and never return. Sad to say I did leave…but more than half the army came with me.” Sarabi smiled at Logan and walked away.
“Didn’t they wonder why you weren’t getting older or dieing?” Sarabi laughed softly at Logan’s question.
“No. Back then things were quite different. They rejoiced in the birth of the Fifth Element. They didn’t care about mutations or stuff like that. They knew the prophecy and had been waiting for my birth. So they never thought it odd that I was still alive. It wouldn’t surprise me if that were why my nephew asked me to leave though. Thought he would never get a fair chance at the thrown. He didn’t last there long. Shortly after I left the Romans invaded Egypt and took over.” Sarabi said sitting on the edge of her desk.
Something bothered her about being so close to Logan, and she could watch him better from the desk anyway.
“Times have changed.” Logan said watching Sarabi from the corner of his eye. Sarabi nodded her agreement. “Now they do experiments on mutants when ever they can.” Sarabi looked at Logan sternly, and then, she smiled.
“Is that what this is all about? You were just trying to soften me up so you could get to what you really wanted to know. It almost worked. Nice try.” Sarabi looked at Logan as he turned and walked toward her.
“Who the hell are you protecting?” he asked.
“What? No one why?” Sarabi said.
“Then why won’t you say anything about the compound?” Sarabi sat there stunned. Did he mention the compound? Sarabi got to her feet.
“Who told you I have anything to do with the compound?” Sarabi said getting a tad annoyed. Logan was standing right in front of her.
“The Professor did. He said that you were there about 16 years ago.”
“Yeah so what? What does it have to do with you? And more importantly, why the hell do you care?” The office door opened and before Sarabi could tell whoever it was to go the hell away, she heard a familiar sound that she hadn’t heard in almost 16 years.
“Because I was there.” Logan growled. Sarabi’s eyes left Logan’s and traveled down to his hands. There, sticking out of his left hand was three nine-inch long claws. Sarabi’s eyes traveled to his right hand and it was the same. She noticed a small nick in the forefinger blade of his right hand and her heart jumped. She again met his eyes, which were very angry, and took a step back against her desk. She stared into his eyes for a few moments.
“Wolverine.” She whispered and Logan blinked.
“I knew they were going to kill each other! I just knew it! And it was going so well.” Rogue’s voice floated through Sarabi’s mind. Sarabi hadn’t moved an inch. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing.
“That’s Wolverine?” Kitty asked.
“Wicked.” Came another voice, it belonged to Kurt. Suddenly there was a noise at the door.
“What’s going on here?” Scott asked. “I heard Rogue say something about someone killing..Oh.” Scott saw Logan and Sarabi locked in a gaze. Finally Sarabi broke eye contact and looked at Scott, Rogue, Kitty and Kurt. She gave them a confused look and then shook her head.
“Excuse me.” Sarabi said going around Logan and out the office door. Kitty watched Sarabi go, then turned back and looked at Logan. Kitty leaned over to Rogue.
“You never said he was Wolverine.” She whispered in Rogue’s ear. Rogue looked at Kitty.
“Would that have made any difference?” Rogue asked. Kitty’s eyes went wide.
“Oh yeah.” Was all Kitty said.
Sarabi gave another right to the punching bag. She kept hitting it and hitting it hard. Charles has some explaining to do she thought. She kept running things through her mind and each little tidbit was fuel for her punches and kicks. Each one a little harder than the last, each time she was a little angrier than the last. Finally with a roundhouse kick the bag went flying across the small workout gym.
Breathing hard she bent over and placed her hands on her knees. Sweat was running down the side of her face and she still had enough energy to keep going, but apparently the bag had had enough. What she needed was an actual person to fight. Someone who could take her beatings without a second thought. Someone she could literally beat the crap out of and they wouldn’t be hurt. Sarabi sighed.
“What is it Kitty?” she asked. Sarabi didn’t hear her come in, or even see her, she smelled her. That was the only sense that wasn’t affected at the moment by her mood. Kitty came around from behind Sarabi and bent down to look at her.
“Feel better?” Kitty asked. Sarabi shook her head no. “Well, the Professor has called a meeting in his office, and I think I have a good idea what it’s about.” Kitty took a small step back from Sarabi. She knew the best place to be when Sarabi was on the warpath, was nowhere near the path.
“You and me both.” Sarabi growled and grabbed a towel off the bench and wiped her face. She tossed it aside and strode towards the door.
“I’ll have someone fix the bag for you so you can come back here after dinner.” Kitty yelled out after Sarabi.
“Good.” Sarabi called out over her shoulder. She stormed down the hall pulling on her zip up sweatshirt leaving it unzipped. She didn’t care that her Marines tank top was somewhat soaked in her sweat, to be honest, she didn’t care for anything much right at that moment. She walked right up to Charles’ office door and then stopped. She stood there staring at it, like it was the door to hell…or something worst.
“Please come in Sarabi.” Charles voice said. She knew she heard it in her head. She took a deep breath and opened the door. Everyone was already there. Jean, Scott, Ororo, and Remy were sitting on the couch, Logan was standing by the window, and Charles was sitting in front of his desk. Sarabi shut the door and walked to a chair, but instead of sitting down, she stood there looking at Charles.
“We need to act as fast as possible.” Charles said looking at Sarabi.
“I can’t find any useful information on the compound.” Scott said with a sigh. “So what do we do now?” Everyone looked to Charles, everyone but Logan.
“Why don’t we ask Sarabi?” Logan asked looking at Sarabi. Charles held his hand up.
“Sarabi, you are the only one who knows how to get in and out safely.” Charles said with kind eyes on Sarabi. Sarabi sighed.
“Why? I feel for the mutants they have captured, don’t get me wrong, I do. But the risks are incredibly high for me to go back. They no doubt know who I am by now. I am a weapon capable of destroying whole planets, and me in anyone’s hands but my own isn’t safe for anyone.” Sarabi barely even looked at anyone else but Charles. Charles nodded his understanding. But Logan only got angrier.
“What was so bad for you there?” Logan asked walking closer to Sarabi, his eyes filled with anger and hatred. “What did they do to you? As far as anyone knows you came out of there the same way you came in! I didn’t. I don’t even know what I was before I gone in. I don’t know anything that happened over 16 years ago! But you do.” Sarabi’s eyes flashed.
“You would remember everything if you would have done like I told you to and leave Canada! But no, you had to stick around! I told you they would find a way to get to you if you stayed, I offered you to come with me. It’s not my fault that you don’t remember shit! As for me coming out of that compound without a scratch? You couldn’t be more freaking wrong! Not only did I come out of there with all the memories of what they did to you, but what they did to me! And no, I have no scratches, instead I have scars.” Sarabi didn’t mean to blow up at Logan, but she did. She took off her zip up sweater and pulled up her tank top then she turned around. There on her back were two large oblong scars near her shoulder blades.
“How?” Logan asked her softly. “You can regenerate.” Sarabi dropped her tank top and turned to look at Logan. Her eyes were sad and full of pain.
“I know. And they knew. But they thought they could stop me from regenerating. They wanted to give me wings. They tried many times, and each time I regenerated. Finally they took a soldering iron and cut me open, then burnt the flesh along the edges of the wound they made. They thought if they cauterized it, I wouldn’t regenerate. They also thought I controlled it. So when I regenerated the holes they cut into my back, I regenerated the scar tissue they gave me. And to top it off they were pissed that it didn’t work, pissed that I regenerated myself. So what did they do? They broke every bone in my body to punish me. I laid on that table regenerating my bones till my mind couldn’t take the pain any more and shut down.” Silence followed Sarabi’s explanation. A hand took Sarabi’s and she looked down. Charles and taken her hand and gave it a squeeze.
“I will tell you how to get in and out. I can do that much.” Sarabi whispered to Charles. “But I won’t go with them. I can’t. I still don’t want wings. I can fly by myself thank you very much.” Sarabi’s attempt to smile brought a sad smile to Charles’ lips. Sarabi kneeled down in front of him, and Charles placed a hand on either side of Sarabi’s head. She looked him in the eyes as he entered her mind. Sarabi showed Charles everything they would need to know to get in and out of the compound without alerting anyone. She showed him where to find the mutants, and how to get them out. She told him the times of the change of the guards. Charles opened his eyes and looked at Sarabi. He lowered his hands and smiled.
“Meet me in the hanger in the morning.” Charles told the rest of them. “I should have everything ready for you then.” Scott nodded. Sarabi stood and grabbed her sweater. Everyone stood and followed Sarabi out the door. Sarabi stopped by a chair outside the office and stood there with her eyes closed. She felt a hand on her arm, and knew it was Logan before she opened her eyes from his scent. Sarabi looked at him and noticed for the first time that they were about the same height. Logan was perhaps a couple of inches taller than her. And she had to admit, Kitty was right. He was good looking.
“I’m sorry, Sarabi, I didn’t know.” Logan said quietly. Sarabi blinked a couple of times.
“It’s alright, no one knew.” Sarabi said.
Logan looked at Sarabi. A silence fell between them for a few moments, and then somewhere a gong rang. Sarabi rolled her eyes.
“That would be the gong for dinner. I wish they would find some other way to let us know it’s time to eat.” Sarabi smiled at Logan’s raised eyebrow, she started to walk off down the hall, leaving Logan standing there. “Come on Logan, unless your mutation doesn’t require you to eat.” Sarabi said over her shoulder. Logan quickly caught up to Sarabi while she was again donning her sweater, this time zipping it up a bit. Logan watched her for a moment.
“They don’t hurt anymore do they?” he asked. Sarabi smiled and shook her head.
“Only when I dream about it, but not normally. They are more of an annoying reminder of what happened.” Sarabi said walking into a great big ballroom that was filled with tables. It could have been your normal cafeteria scene, except for the comfortable chairs, the big chandelier hanging from the ceiling, the fancy tablecloths, and the long table found at one end of the room that was slightly raised and looked like a horseshoe that had been grabbed by the ends and almost bent straight again. It was this table that Sarabi headed. Remy, Ororo, and Jean were already sitting at it talking. Sarabi smiled as she sat down next to Ororo.
“Are you okay?” Ororo asked her. Sarabi shrugged and smile.
“No worst for the wear.” Sarabi said. Ororo looked at her closely. “I’ll be fine Ororo, don’t worry about me.” Sarabi placed a hand on Ororo’s arm and smiled. Soon the kids were filling the ballroom. Sarabi smiled as Rogue and Kitty entered together talking excitedly. Kitty glanced up at Sarabi and gave her a sad smile. News traveled fast in any school, but it seemed it traveled even faster here. Sarabi smiled her biggest and best smile for Kitty to show her that everything was all right. After the kids settled down and Scott and Charles had joined them at the head table did the food begin to arrive. As always, the food smelled and tasted delicious and it was always a feast for kings. Sarabi smiled as she grabbed a warm roll off a plate and passed the plate down to Logan. Sarabi had forgotten the events of the day as she took a bite out of her steak. Sarabi watched as the students talked and laughed. She barely heard Remy talking to Logan, or the fact that Charles was keeping an eye on her.
“I suppose some of them will want to stay here, but we will try and get a hold of any family members, specially of the younger ones. We do have students whose families are completely fine with their mutations, and they usually go home for the summer. We have parents getting a hold of us when they discover their children unique talents. And they are more then happy to pay tuition for their kids to be taught in a place that aren’t going to judge them. Then you have the kids whose families reject them, and they are usually the runaways. Money has never been a problem for the school. With tuitions, Charles, and of coarse it never hurts to have a thousand year old family backing the school either.” Remy was explaining to Logan, and with the last comment looked at Sarabi. Sarabi looked at Remy and gave him a smile.
“Family? Try one member.” Sarabi said.
“You have no family out there?” Logan asked. Sarabi smiled.
“I am sure there are Vosloos out there, somewhere. I know of a few. I mean, I did have relatives that reproduced. My family didn’t end with me. My sister had two sons and one daughter, and they had kids, and so on…” Sarabi explained with a smile. Logan smiled as he took a sip of his drink.
“And they know about you being the Fifth?” Logan asked leaning back in his chair looking at Sarabi.
“Some do...there has been many Sarabi Vosloos in my family tree.” Sarabi smiled. “Of coarse they have all been the same person, but the government doesn’t know that. Nor does all of society. With big rich families like mine, it’s normal for a name to be passed down among the family. Just because every Sarabi in the family looks remarkably like the Sarabi in the past never really has been an issue.” Sarabi smiled as she leaned back and watched the students enjoying themselves. Logan shook his head and laughed.
“Someday someone will.” He said.
“Those are the ones who already know what she is.” Remy said. Logan looked at him.
“You seem to know an awful lot about Sarabi and her family.” Logan stated. Remy smiled.
“I have known Sarabi for some time. And I know how to get information out of her.” Sarabi laughed.
“The only information I give you is what I want to tell you. Most of the time I tell you something, anything, just to shut you up!” Sarabi was smiling. Remy looked hurt for a moment, but then smiled.
“I can be annoying, can’t I?” he said. There was soft laugher to Sarabi’s right. Ororo had been listening.
“That’s an understatement.” She said.
“And who asked you?” Remy said with a smile. Ororo smiled. Sarabi sighed. She pushed her chair back from the table.
“Well, I am going to the gym before this gets any worst.” Sarabi said with a smile to Ororo and Remy.
“The bag is fixed…again.” Remy said with a smile. Sarabi smiled sweetly as she walked by him.
Sarabi stood looking at the bag where it had landed on the ground and sighed. She didn’t even think she hit it that hard this time. Sarabi shook her head and leaned against the fence that made The Cage. It was a fighting ring that was surrounded by fencing instead of the rope most commonly found on wrestling rings. And in The Cage everything goes, no rules, just right. Sarabi turned around and found her self looking into deep brown eyes. She stood there for a moment watching.
“So much for the bag.” Came Remy’s voice from the door of the cage. Sarabi turned and looked at him for a moment then smiled.
“You know, what I need Remy is a real person to take the bags place and fight back.” Sarabi said walking slowly around Remy. He laughed.
“You will be hard pressed to find anyone that has the balls enough to fight you Sarabi. Specially if they have seen you fight.” He said looking at the bag. Which was a good thing for him for if he was watching Sarabi he would have noticed the slow precised circles she was making around him, never taking her eyes off him. There was a soft growl that made Remy look up from the bag.
“Oh no. Sarabi no. Sit. Stay. Heel!” Remy stood with both his hands out in front of him and started to slowly back up.
“Run.” Sarabi whispered. Remy stopped and looked at her.
“What was that Mon Amie?”
“Run. Please run.” Sarabi repeated. Remy looked over to Logan who shrugged. Remy looked back to Sarabi who was slowly advancing on him. She never took her eyes off from his. Remy rubbed the back of his neck.
“Sarabi? Is this one of those things where if I run, you’ll attack?” Sarabi only smiled. “Oh sh—“ Remy had been walking backwards again and stumbled down the steps leading to the cage. He quickly gained his balance and looked at Sarabi.
“Please amie, don’t do this again. The last time those fangs of yours hurt!” Sarabi sighed and then smiled. She never left the cage. Sarabi grabbed the edges of the doorframe and leaned out towards Remy.
“I wouldn’t hurt you. And I hate it when you use that damn accent to it’s full existent.” Remy smiled and walked back towards her. He stopped when they were almost nose-to-nose. Logan walked around the cage to where Remy and Sarabi was. He chuckled to himself at the sight. Sarabi leaning out of the cage with Remy standing just out of reach of her hands, but close enough that she can see the whites of his eyes.
“I know mon amie, I know. That is just one reason I do use it fully. Admit it. You like it.” Remy said smiling. Sarabi just snorted. Then with no warning from Remy, he grabbed Sarabi’s face with one hand and pulled her closer to him and kissed her hard full on the lips. It lasted only a few seconds, and when Remy let Sarabi go he did run. Sarabi wasted no time in wondering what had gotten into Remy and followed him.
Remy ran out the door of the gym, and firmly closed it behind him. Unfortunately Sarabi was too close behind him to register what he just did and hit the door full strength. It shattered easily and only momentarily distracted Sarabi. What really got her was the huge chest she ran hard into. Sarabi stumbled back into Logan who had followed her and Remy. Logan caught her before she fell. Sarabi’s eyes went up the chest to the face, and she sighed.
“McCoy. So nice to run into you. But if you wouldn’t mind moving.” Sarabi said seeing Remy standing behind Henry McCoy with a smile on his face.
“Sarabi, you know he has no chance fighting you.” Henry said with a soft smile.
“Yes, yes. Yes, I know. A snowball in hell chance, but just wait till you hear what he did this time.” Sarabi said still watching Remy. Logan started chuckling behind her and she turned and looked at him.
“It was very brave.” Logan said with a big smile. Sarabi glared at Logan.
“So, what did Remy do this time? Taunt you? Perhaps he spoke French to you again?” Henry was teasing her and she knew it.
“No. He kissed me.” Sarabi’s reply was greeted with silence. Henry raised an eyebrow and turned to look at Remy.
“Boy, you have some huge balls.” Henry told Remy. Sarabi stood there looking at the two of them.
“Isn’t that sweet. Now if you are done commenting on his balls Beast, do move.” Sarabi took a step or two towards Remy and Henry put a hand on her shoulder.
“Remy, if I were you I would run far and fast.” Henry said smiling. “You know she’s not happy when she starts using codenames.”
“Yes well running isn’t going to help me se sauver from la femme.” There was a silence. Henry looked at Sarabi.
“What did he say?” Sarabi smiled and took a step closer to Remy.
“He said that running isn’t going to help him escape me.” Sarabi said. Henry laughed.
“That’s for sure.” Henry said. Remy smiled.
“Mon amie, I don’t understand why a kiss would get you so upset. And you have kicked my ass enough times, wouldn’t you like fresh meat?” Sarabi blinked at Remy a couple of times then looked at Henry who smiled.
“I have a feeling I know where this is going.” Henry started and looked at Logan. “Boy, you just got nominated.” Logan looked at Henry.
“Think about it Sarabi, he is, after all, the only one who wouldn’t end up in the medical bay, and god knows I like talking with Jean, but it is kind of hard when your jaw is broken. He at least can take what you dish out without even flinching. And isn’t that what you’ve wanted for a long time.” Remy was talking fast trying to save his butt. Sarabi looked at Logan. She smiled and Remy released the breath he had been holding. Logan looked at Sarabi then to Remy.
“Wait a minute.” Logan said. “I didn’t do nothing, it was Remy who kissed you, not me.” Sarabi smiled.
“But Remy is right you know. You regenerate like I do. You can take the broken bones and keep going without a second thought.” Sarabi started to really look at Logan. She walked around him looking him up and down. Her eyebrow rose a bit when she walked behind him, Remy smiled and looked at Henry and winked. Henry smiled and looked at Logan and Sarabi both who didn’t see Remy wink. Sarabi stopped at Logan’s side. She looked at him.
“Besides, when was the last time you had someone last longer than a couple of minutes?” Sarabi asked him.
“And if you are still stuck on that didn’t do nothing thing, may I suggest kissing her? Her lips are quite soft compared to…” Remy stopped when he saw the look Sarabi was giving him.
“Remy, how long do you plan to live?” Henry asked. Remy took a step closer to Henry for protection.
“You’re right. I don’t think anyone has lasted longer than a minute. So if you are game.” Logan said. Sarabi smiled and walked back into the gym. Remy was going to follow her, but Logan stopped him.
“Look bub, next time you plan on pissing Sarabi off, I’d suggest having an escape route planned out before hand. I’m not going to fight her just to get your ass off the line.” Logan said with a quick smile. Remy looked back at Henry and smiled.
“We’ll see.” Remy said softly. Henry and Remy took a seat, both smiling like Cheshire cats. “Told you it would work.” Remy said to Henry who laughed.
“Next time you might not want to kiss her. I am surprised you got out of it this time.”
Sarabi put her arms behind her back and turned to look at Logan. He was taking off his jacket and then he pulled off his shirt. Sarabi felt a smile spread on her face at seeing Logan’s bare chest. She glanced at Remy and Henry who was watching them both carefully, and turned her back to them. She laced her fingers through the fence still smiling.
Logan looked at Sarabi carefully. The tank top and sweats she was wearing showed her figure quite well, and she did have muscles. Her hair was pulled back in a ponytail and the letters USMC on her left shoulder stood out clearly in black. He couldn’t help a smile as he stepped into the cage.
“See, at least it’s a beginning.” Remy said. Henry laughed.
“Yes Remy, they are checking each other out. Just remember that if Sarabi or Logan ever find out what you are doing, I had nothing to do with this.” Remy smiled at Henry and nodded. The gym started to get a few students. Kurt walked up to Remy and sat down and looked in the cage. His eyes went wide.
“Are Logan and Sarabi going to fight?” He asked. Remy smiled.
“Oh yeah mon ami, they are going to fight.” Kurt disappeared leaving the smell of burning brimstone and some smoke. A couple of minutes later he was back and the gym began to fill.
“Tell everyone did you?” Henry asked smiling.
“I don’t think anyone wants to miss this fight for the world.” Kurt said as Kitty and Rogue sat down next to him
“And the students aren’t the only ones.” Rogue said smiling and pointing out that Charles, Scott, Jean, and Ororo had walked in. Remy smiled.
“Sarabi will kill you if she finds out you know.” Kurt said watching the cage.
Sarabi was still smiling when she looked around the slowly filling gym.
“You get the feeling that somehow this was a tad planned?” Sarabi asked with her hands on her hips. Logan chuckled.
“Yeah, as a matter of fact I do.” Logan said as the cage door closed. Sarabi looked up at the stands where Remy was sitting.
“Remy.” Sarabi said. Remy smiled and waved to her. Logan followed Sarabi’s gaze.
“You don’t want to disappoint the public do you?” Logan asked her and before Sarabi could answer she was dodging a fist. Sarabi smiled. She knew she was going to like this. A Lot.
Her fist punch was a right and it connected to Logan’s jaw with a sickening crack. Sarabi smiled as she looked at her hand. It wasn’t Logan’s jaw that cracked; it was her hand. Sarabi looked at Logan who smiled and said one word.
“Adamantium” Sarabi smiled and held up her perfectly fine hand then shrugged.
Sarabi hit the ground and took Logan with her. She rolled away from him and was back on her feet. The students were loving every minute of the fight. So far it had only been an hour and a half since they started, but with neither of them feeling the slightest bit fatigued it could last for a long long time. Logan delivered a left punch that Sarabi blocked and wrapped her arm around his. He automatically followed with a right and Sarabi did the same thing she did with his left, which pulled them together chest to chest. Logan looked in Sarabi’s eyes and he felt her heartbeat strongly against his chest. They stood there for a moment then Logan felt Sarabi’s leg wrap around his and she brought him to the ground. Sarabi managed to get untangled and gave Logan a smile as she planted a hand on either side of his head and did a back flip. Logan sighed, and quickly got up. Sarabi turned to face Logan just as he grabbed the front of her shirt and threw her across the cage. Sarabi hit the other side and looked at Logan with a smile.
He had to give her credit. She was fiery and a damn good fighter. Not to mention attractive. So when Sarabi went to punch him, he easily grabbed her fist and turned her around and close to him. He smiled and whispered in her ear.
“Perhaps Remy was right. Maybe it does only take a kiss.” Sarabi jerked but Logan wasn’t letting go of her just yet.
“I have killed men for less than that.” Sarabi said. Logan smiled.
“I bet you have sweetheart, I bet you have.” Sarabi growled low in her throat.
“Don’t call me sweetheart.” She said. “And Logan, don’t forget to sing.” Logan looked at her.
“What?” he said with laughter in his voice. Sarabi elbowed him hard in his stomach.
“Stomach.” She said then stomped on his foot.
“Insole” Logan let go of her and she turned around and smacked him hard in the nose.
“Nose” Then she slid her hand along his neck and pulled him close. She kneed him hard.
“Groin” Sarabi smiled still with her hand on his neck. “Sing.” Logan laughed. A bell sounded somewhere and the cage door was opened.
“It is late, and there is important business to be done in the morning. We all should be getting to bed.” A voice in their heads said. It was Charles, and when Sarabi looked at him, he was smiling. Sarabi looked back at Logan and noticed they were still quite close. She looked at his lips and had the sudden urge to bite his lower lip. She let her hand slide down his neck and a bit of his chest as she walked away from him towards the cage door. The students were slowly filing out of the gym talking excitedly. Kurt, Kitty, Rogue, Remy and Henry met Sarabi at the bottom of the stairs. Kurt smiled.
“That was totally wicked!” he exclaimed Sarabi smiled and put her arm around his shoulders. She looked at Remy.
“And you are lucky to be alive mon ami” Sarabi said copying his accent quite well. Logan came up beside Sarabi and placed a hand on her shoulder.
“But you do have to admit, that was a pretty damn good workout.” He said. Sarabi looked at him for a moment then smiled.
“Yes that it was. Lucky you Remy.” Sarabi said still smiling. Remy smiled.
“They don’t call me Gambit for nothing.” He said. Logan laughed and walked towards his shirt and some towels.
“You guys go on, I’ll catch up. Need to talk to metal boy for a moment.” Sarabi said ignoring the looks she got from them all. She watched them leave the gym talking somewhat quietly to themselves.
“Metal boy?” Logan said almost in her ear. Sarabi turned around and looked at him with a smile. “Honey, I am no boy.” Sarabi rolled her tongue in her mouth for a moment.
“That, Logan, has still yet to be seen.” Sarabi said smiling at the look on Logan’s face. She sat down on the bench and looked at him.
“So what do you need to talk to me about?” Logan asked sitting on the bench opposite of her. Sarabi pointed to the dog tag dangling around his neck, Logan looked down at it.
“I do hope you find what you are looking for Logan.” Sarabi said and Logan looked at her.
“So do I.” He said. “Of course it would be easier if you would just tell me what happened.” Sarabi looked at Logan and then shook her head. She leaned forward and took his hands. She looked at them as she talked.
“I can, with no second thoughts, gladly get into the cage and fight you, but I can’t for the life of me even begin talking about something I swore I would never think about again.” Logan reached toward her neck and tugged on her dog tag. Sarabi looked at it and smiled softly. “I know. If I don’t want to think about it, why wear the dog tag? I can’t really explain Logan.”
“I know.” He said. Sarabi looked up at him and smiled. Sarabi shrugged a little.
“Maybe someday I could talk about it. Maybe never. I just hope you find out enough information that satisfies you.” Logan smiled and slipped a loose hair back behind her ear.
Remy was standing in the shadows watching Sarabi and Logan with a smile.
“Kiss the girl you le fou!” he whispered.
“You know, you aren’t no Sebastian the crab here.” Rogue said walking up behind him. Remy jumped. “And I don’t think Logan would take to kind of you calling him an idiot.” She continued. Remy shook his head looking back at Logan and Sarabi.
“I didn’t call him an idiot, I called him a fool.” He said. Rogue laughed softly.
“Same thing.” She said. Remy looked at her for a moment and smiled.
“It is isn’t it?” He said. “Just kiss her already.” He whispered again.
Sarabi made a face, but not because of what Logan just did.
“Did you hear that?” Sarabi asked. Logan smiled and nodded. Sarabi looked into the shadows from the corner of her eye. Not seeing anything she looked back at Logan but smiled. She waved her right arm in the direction of the sound and Remy and Rogue came flying out of the shadows and landed with a soft thud in the light. Logan looked at Sarabi impressed.
“Nice trick” he said. Sarabi smiled.
“Yeah, it comes in quite handy sometimes doesn’t it?” Sarabi leaned back on the bench and smiled at Remy and Rogue.
“Good night Logan.” Sarabi said and stood. She walked by Remy and Rogue still sitting on the floor. They both gave her a weak smile as she passed. Logan watched Sarabi leave the gym then looked at Remy and Rogue.
“Nice girl eh?” Remy said smiling. Logan just laughed and shook his head.
“It’s amazing that you have lasted this long Remy.” Logan said pulling his shirt back on, then grabbing his jacket he headed for the door still smiling.
“Well I think that went quite well.” Remy said getting up and dusting himself off. Rogue stood and looked at him like he had lost his mind.
“You’re kidding right?” She asked. Remy looked at Rogue and smiled.
“They fought each other didn’t they?” Remy asked with a smile.
“Yeah but” Rogue started.
“That’s a step in the right direction!” Remy exclaimed as happy as a clam. Rogue stared at Remy for a moment then shook her head.
“You have lost it.” She said. Remy laughed.
“The more time they spend together Rogue, the more they can end up liking each other.” Remy explained. Rogue smiled.
“That would be completely understandable, if they weren’t beatin the crap out of each other in the cage as time spent together.” Remy looked thoughtful for a moment.
“Yes, I know you’re right it does sound quite silly, but it was the only thing that I came up with that they have in common. And did you see them together afterwards?” Remy said putting his arm around Rogue’s shoulders and they walked together to the door.
“I will leave it up to you, since you seem to know what you’re doin. But just remember, if they find out, I had nothing to do with this.” Rogue said. Remy stopped and looked at her.
“Why does everyone keep saying that?”
