Latin, ... Arabic languages started out as IDEOGRAPHIC also,
but later gradually developed out
some 20+ BASIC PHONETIC LETTERs.
In the begining, "words" are STRINGs of these
"basic phonetic letters (alphabets)" and some ICONs.
Eventually, today's WESTERN ALPHABETIC LANGUAGES.
