Is this the "summer soldier" Thomas Paine referred to when he said "These are the times that try men's souls..."? No, this is Peter, a Valley Forge volunteer giving a musket firing demonstration. Note the lack of the heavy blue wool coat often associated with the Continentals. The summer uniform was a linen hunting vest.
