T.B.I. - Traumatic Brain Injury is the same as a "closed head injury"

There are Eight Stages to a Coma -

- Little to No Brain activity

- Some brain activity - vegetative state (Where Travis came in to ICU at)

- Some movement - slipping back and forth from 2 - 3 and sometimes 4. (This was a long state due to the penicillin and high fevers

- Increased brain activity - Responding to sound and touch (You must be at a stage 4 to go into rehab)

- Agitative stage - confusion and restlessness (This was terrible... they can't explain what is happening to them. It must be like pins and needles.)

- Aware of surroundings and beginning to recognize family and friends

- Making progress in treatment - groggy but making progress in daily skills.

- Not quite fully awake but able to function and return to civilization (The state Travis lives in now)
