Nintendo was there just in time to save video games. With awful graphics that couldnt support a good game, no one would buy a product labled "video game". That was why the NES was called an entertainment system. And if that was not all, they also created a number of game series including mario, zelda and kirby.
After the success of the NES, nintendo decided to release the SNES, a 16 bit system with the release game, Super Mario World. It had twice the graphics bits and had a much more comfortable controller. The controller itself had over twice as many buttons.
The controller is the strangest part of the system. It seems to be made for people with three hands. The controller provided a joystick to go with its 64 bit (hint hint) graphics, with a nice Z button underneath, useful for shooter games. The cartriges were still pretty big which wasnt very good for the compitition.
The first Nintendo system to have disks. Its controller is no doubt the most comfortable controller of all the systems, fitting in your hand much better than its competitors XD although its 128 bit graphics didn't match up. ( What would you expect? Two of the largest software/hardware companies supporting them). Making up for the graphics are the games, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Smash Bros. Melee, among others.
Has a motion sensored remote like controller with the USB port on the bottom. The USB port can be made for accesories like the Nuchaku device, with another button and a joystick. It takes CDs and can download classic games from the systems NES, SNES, N64, Genisis and Turbo Graphx with its Wi Fi capabilities. It can also play GameCube games.
This was the first video game handheld the world has ever seen. You can imagine how popular it was back then. People didn't care about the black and white graphics, especially when the Game Boy pocket came out. It also had just as many buttons as the NES.
The idea of a color version of a Game Boy was like a handeld NES. The graphics were even good enough to support NES games, although not very well- a GBC version of Super Mario Bros. came out with enhanced features.
With rumors of a 3D image appearing above the system, its weight, bad red and black graphics and its need for a stand made this system go out of market within six months of its release date. Hopefully someday we will see a sequal to this system with better graphics and strap on goggle like screen.
The system that outsold the PS2. Don't even try with the "Nintendo is going out of buisness" rumor. The system has better graphics than the Game Boy Color, although you can still see the pixels if you look closely. It had more buttons that allowed more complex games like Astro Boy Omega Factor.
The DS revolutionizes gaming with two LCD backlit screens, the bottom a touch screen. It also has a built in microphone and long lifed battery, 3D graphics, a port for GBA games and tiny cartriges whos only problem is being mistaken for a scrap of paper. All these features make for unique gameplay and a bridge over the endless river Sony and Microsoft is trying to ford. Face it: theres a point where graphics get no better and you run out of fingers for all the buttons.
