OUR STORY

How We Met:

Roy and Lindsey met in 1997 when they were both attending Sturgis Williams Middle School.  Neither of them can really recall the day they actually met, but they both think it was at one of the school dances.  Roy and Lindsey dated a little bit in middle and high school, but drifted apart.  They met back up in the fall of 2004.  They had been seeing each other in Wal-Mart and around town quite a bit, but only said a quick “hi.”  Then one night Roy and a few of his friends were leaving Wal-Mart when they saw Lindsey pull up.  Roy quickly went and put his business card on her windshield, hoping she would call him.  When Lindsey and her friend Kelly returned to the car they found the business card and called him.  Soon after they found themselves at the movies with a bunch of friends.  Roy and Lindsey stayed up till 6am the following morning talking and catching up.  After that long night of talking they both knew they had found that special person that would change each other’s lives.  Soon after they knew they had fallen in love and would spend the rest of their lives together.

Engagement: July 22nd 2005

Neither of us truly believed that we would marry young.  I guess life doesn’t always turn out the way you planned it to, but I’m glad it didn’t because I am in love with the most amazing person.

Lindsey’s grandparents from Des Moines had come to visit for a long weekend.  The family had made plans to go eat at “The Fireside,” one of Rapid City’s finer restaurants.  Roy and Lindsey have a little routine, where whenever they go out to eat there they stop at Canyon Lake Park on the way back to walk around and feed the ducks.  Well, like always, they stopped at the park.  The lake was at lit up and very pretty.  Roy took Lindsey out onto the island and proceeded to tell her how beautiful and how perfect she is for him and how he couldn’t imagine his life without her, then he got down on his knee, pulled out the ring, and asked her to marry him.  Of course she said “yes.”    And as the saying goes, the rest is history.
