Little Girl
When I was a little girl,
I sat with my legs crossed,
Eager to mature into my mother.
I pretended my Coke was coffee,
And drank it in small sips,
Eager to become an adult.
When I showered I slathered lots of shampoo on my head,
And styled my hair up,
Eager to grow into a teenager.
Now, I sit here, I didn’t brush my hair,
I drank some juice this morning,
And I’m sitting on my legs.
I want my childhood back!
