The train journey down the coast was great.
The coast was amazing and the trains,
although mostly behind time,
were a pleasure to travel in.

Arriving in Los Angeles was another odd experience.
The urban sprawl reminded me of Perth, but it felt soo different.

Got a bus to Santa Monica and walked several miles to Venice Beach.
I lost the feeling in my fingers,
because of the weight of the saddle bags I was carrying.
I may never be able to play the tuba again!

Venice beach is pretty of an eve though.

Jurgen with his new skateboard.
It only cost him $20; apparently that's a good price .
It's the world famous Panda brand.
Made from reconstituted panda bones embedded in natural resins
(imbedded in natural resins if in the USA).
Anyhow, it's flexible, tough and light.
Must be all that bamboo pandas eat :o)

and I have been surprised how easy LA has been for cycling.

Los Angeles is not as bike friendly as San Francisco,
but the buses in LA have bike racks,
which means no battling cross town traffic,
and there are plenty of cyclists around Venice.
