(Club Valencia crowned the Cup Winners Cup' trophy for the third consecutive time
in a nail-biting final match. Hence Valencia became the first ever club to own the Cup Winners' Cup trophy
and nevertheless the first ever-Maldivian club to own a cup before capturing
the trophy by another club. Valencia played well and created more chances in
the first half but in the second half Valencia never recovered from the
setback as we had seen a one-way traffic to New Radiant. In this match Anil
scored a header and in the 92nd minute he blasted home a thundering shot when
the goalkeeper was outside the penalty area)

replica score a way back in 1996, as in that final Victory won 2-0 but
this time Club Valencia avenged the 2-0 defeat to win the final by 2-0 against
the same opposition. Valencia won this prestigious cup for the second
consecutive time. In the first half there was an even game but Victory
dominated the entire second half that left the opposition to attack on
counters. Thoddoo, Anil, Imma, and Abbaas of Nigeria (suspended) did
not come out as the starters. But Imma and Thoddoo came later as substitutes. One thing to remember is that if Ali-Umar's
bicycle kick goal had been allowed against Orchid in the
second round, Valencia would be the League Champions instead of Victory)
