David Russo
Bass
David picked up the bass in the early nineties to help start a band with high school friends. The bass quickly turned into one of his passions. His talent and open minded nature has gotten him involved in many different projects, ranging from an eighties cover band to an original rock/funk fusion band, Liquid Purple, which released a self titled album. It was February of 2000 when Dave found his niche in Bluzberry Pi.
David has brought a more modern sound to the low end of Pi, while maintaining a traditional blues feel. His style fits well with the contemporary blues and roots sound Vinny creates in his original music.
David’s musical influences range from Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers) to Tom Hamilton (Aerosmith). He was drawn to blues by the artistry of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Eric Clapton. These two artists helped him find his most muscially satisfying experience.
David plays a Fender P-Bass through a Hartke 3500 amp powering a variety of Avatar cabs.
