TITLE VII (CIVIL RIGHTS ACT OF 1964)

An act to enforce the constitutional right to vote, to confer jurisdiction upon the district courts of the United States to provide injunctive relief against discrimination in public accommodations, to authorize the Attorney General to institute suits to protect constitutional rights in public facilities and public education, to extend the Commission on Civil Rights, to prevent discrimination in federally assisted programs, to establish a commission on Equal Employment Opportunity, and for other purposes. 28 U.S.C. ss 1447; 42 U.S.C. ssss 1971, 1975&-d, 2000a&- 200h&-6; 78 Stat. 241 (1964).

TORT

Any one of various, legally recognized, private injuries or wrongs, which do not arise as the result of a breach of contract.

TRADE SECRET

A plan, process, tool, mechanism, or compound, known only to its owner, and those of his employees to whom it is necessary to confide it, in order to apply it to the uses intended. It is distinguishable from a patent, in that it may be used by anyone who is able to discover its nature.

TRESPASS

Any transgression of the law, less than treason, felony, or misprision of either. (2) Especially, trespass quo clausum fregit, i.e., entry on another's close, or land without formerly authority. (3) Trespass on the case, or Case, is a general name for torts which formerly had no special writ or remedy. (4) Criminal trespass is entering or surreptitiously remaining in a building or occupied structure, or separately secured or occupied portion thereof, knowing that he is not licensed or privileged to do so. Model Penal Code ss 221.2(1). (5) Defiant trespass is entering or remaining in any place as to which notice against trespass is given, knowing that he is not licensed or privileged to do so. The notice against trespass must be given by actual communication to the actor, posting in a manner prescribed by law or reasonably likely to come to the attention of intruders, or fending or other enclosure manifestly designed to exclude intruders. Model Penal Code ss 221.2(2).
