Human Motivation

Human Needs:

Physiological and psychological requirements that all humans share and that act as motives for human behavior.

Job Enlargement:

Increasing the number of tasks or the quantity of output required in a job.

Job Enrichment:

Providing variety, deeper personal interest and involvement, greater autonomy and challenge, or increased amounts of responsibility in a job.

Job Rotation:

Movement of people to different jobs, usually for a temporary period, in order to inform, train, or stimulate cooperation and understanding between and among them.

Maintenance Factor:

According to Herzberg, a factor that can be provided by an employer in order to prevent job dissatisfaction.

Motivation:

The drive within a person to achieve some goal. Human wants and needs fuel our drives.

Motivation Factor:

According to Herzberg, a factor that has the potential to stimulate internal motivation to provide a better-than-average performance and commitment from those to whom it appeals.

Productivity:

The measurement of the amount of input needed to generate any given amount of output. A basic measurement of the efficiency of a business.

Quality:

The totality of features and characteristics of a product or service that bear on its ability to satisfy stated or implied goals.

Quality of Work Life:

A general label given to various programs and projects designed to help employees satisfy their needs and expectations from work.
