Stone Wall
Like a stone wall in an empty field
That separates nothing from nothing else
Reigning whole through wind, rain, drought, and snow.
Standing, unable to move but not caring to
Impassive towards everything that you may do.
From one end to another stretching across the field was all that mattered
And that didn’t matter at all
Builders long gone, taking their presence with them
Making a mystery of the wall
A mystery no one wants to solve at all
It is like they never were
Like they never will be.
Standing for 10,000 years has the same result
If it crumbled tomorrow
It wouldn’t matter
It doesn’t matter how it stands
Just that it does
In and empty field
Oblivious to the stupid things we do
It will outlive us all.
