Yard
the sparrows weigh down the lantern
eating in chaotic patterns
sun shines through to dappled pavement
leaves sway gently in agreement
chair is empty, needing someone
table's dirty, wanting no one
feeder, beat and disregarded
squirrel goes quickly 'cross my yard and
plants are growing, too slow to see
goldfish circle lazily
worms peruse beneath my feet
lemonade sale down the street
and i sit amongst this lonely beauty
eye the lazy susans, brightly
gossip in the sun, alone i
watch this all, embrace what's nigh
raven scares the kind away
feasting on another's pay
beady eye, intruding beak
night-kissed feathers, sharp and sleek
drop of rain falls, identified
a tear of some unwanted bride
dark spots appear to stain the brick
rhythm beating soft and quick
and i sit amongst this lonely beauty
eye that from leaves dripping, sprightly
diving to the earth below, i
watch this all, embrace what's nigh
the flowers bow their graceful heads
acquiescing in its stead
the sun shines strongly, and i spy
a rainbow bridge from earth to sky
