While I was researching for this project, I came across some sites that I thought might be useful in your own quest for knowledge about the Civil Rights Movement. Since my site only consists of 4 events, I thought that I would provide you with some more detailed links which cover a larger time span as well as a more in-depth view of each incident.
http://www.cr.nps.gov/nr/travel/civilrights/ --This site is made by a number of foundations including U.S. Department of Interior, National Park Service, U.S. Department of Transportation, The Federal Highway Administration, and the National Conference of State Historic Preservation Officers. Well-crafted and user-friendly, this site captures just about every occurrence during the Civil Rights Era.
http://www.wmich.edu/politics/mlk/ -- I decided to include this website for people who weren't interested in reading detailed websites and were looking for quick and easy to comprehend excerpts about events. Some pages contain a link that further explains the incident.
http://www.ghg.net/hollaway/civil.htm -- This site is a comprehensive site that basically consists of every event concerning African Americans since the discovery of the new world.
http://www.watson.org/~lisa/blackhistory/civilrights-55-65/ -- This website covers the civil rights movement during its peak (1955-1965) Like my site, it only covers a few websites, but in a great amount of detail.
http://www.infoplease.com/spot/civilrightstimeline1.html -- A well-crafted site which displays a timeline of occurrences. Furthermore, it breaks down each incident into many different parts to help you better understand the important events that occurred. Also, it has some information about the present period.
http://www.mecca.org/~crights/cyber.html -- This was a site that I used to help me chose the topics that I wanted to include in my website.
http://faculty.smu.edu/dsimon/Change-Civ%20Rts.html -- Another site I used when I first started constructing this website. |
